My heart is SO full this Mother’s Day! ❤️❤️❤️
Started the day working out, then filled my soul at church. After service, breakfast with my middle son Caleb Joshuamy forever brunch date 😊
Came home to my oldest son Jacob Cohn and Jennifer Jimenez dad holding it DOWN on the grill! 🔥 The men showed out.
Beautiful cards, roses, orchids, new sunglasses… and more. But the best gift? Time with my family.
To my sons, my daughter Hannah Cohn and her partner Earon Grinage, my daughter-in-love Alana Starke and Jenny and grandbabies Cristiano and Halia — thank you for making me feel this loved today. Being your mom/GG is my greatest blessing.

My son Caleb Joshua treated me to the White Sox vs. Mariners game tonight, seats right by the Sox dugout, beautiful weather, and fireworks after the game!
Nothing beats baseball, family, and a Chicago night like this. My heart is full.

One of my absolute TOP tier medical students… and my Soror 💕💚
Today was her “last day”… again 😄 because when I say she loved my rotation, I mean she came back for a THIRD round! That’s the kind of dedication, passion, and excellence that just hits different 💅🏽
Watching her grow each time — sharper, more confident, more compassionate — has been such a proud Soror moment for me. The future of medicine is in GOOD hands, and she is walking in purpose with grace and brilliance 👩🏽⚕️💖💕💚
Keep shining, Soror. The world is yours 🌍✨💕💚

There is something incredibly meaningful about watching medical students complete their OB rotation.
While they may not leave having performed countless vaginal deliveries or complex hysterectomies, what they do gain is far more lasting—and far more important.
They grow into physicians who understand that medicine is not just about procedures, but about people.
During their time on service, I strive to instill the values that will carry them through every specialty and every patient encounter:
✨ Empathy — truly seeing and hearing patients in some of their most vulnerable moments
✨ Humility — recognizing that learning never ends, and every patient is a teacher
✨ Emotional intelligence — navigating complex human experiences with compassion and awareness
✨ Integrity — doing the right thing, even when it’s difficult
✨ Presence — showing up fully, not just clinically, but humanly
I am always so proud of their growth—not just in knowledge, but in who they are becoming.
Because at the end of the day, great physicians are not defined solely by the procedures they perform, but by the lives they touch and the trust they build.
Honored to be part of their journey.

Last night at “She Is Heard,” hosted by Gabby Richmond, I had the honor of sitting among an incredible panel of women who shared their expertise, and more importantly, their real, raw stories of childbirth and the postpartum journey.
There’s something powerful that happens when women speak their truth out loud. You feel it. You carry it. And you can’t ignore it.
As I reflected on what I see every day as a clinician, I spoke about the gaps that continue to impact Black maternal health:
• Listening gaps
• Quality gaps
• Continuity gaps
• Structural gaps
• Trust gaps
These aren’t just concepts, they are lived experiences. They are the difference between feeling safe or dismissed… between being heard or overlooked… between life and loss.
But spaces like this remind me why the work matters. Because when women are heard, believed, and supported, we begin to close those gaps.
Thank you to every woman who shared her story, her voice, and her truth. And thank you, Gabby, for creating a space where being heard isn’t the exception, it’s the expectation!!!!

During Maternal Health Week, I experienced a powerful reminder of the importance of culturally competent care in improving patient outcomes.
Today, my medical student from Puerto Rico observed her first laparoscopic tubal ligation. Our patient, who is Hispanic, immediately found comfort in being able to communicate freely and effectively—eliminating barriers that too often impact care delivery.
This moment underscored something we cannot overlook: language access and representation in healthcare are critical components of quality care. When patients feel seen, heard, and understood, it directly influences trust, safety, and outcomes.
As healthcare leaders and providers, we must continue to build a workforce that reflects the diverse populations we serve—because equity in maternal health starts with connection.

Honored to use my voice where it matters most.
During Black Maternal Health Week, I will be serving as a panelist, standing at the intersection of advocacy, experience, and purpose.
For over three decades as an OB/GYN, I have witnessed both the beauty of bringing life into this world, and the unacceptable disparities that continue to impact Black women. This week is more than awareness, it is a call to action.
We must amplify voices.
We must advocate for equity.
We must change outcomes.
I’m proud to be part of the movement.
Rooted in purpose. Resilient in action.
