Two appointments.
Two generations.
One reminder that we all deserve to feel heard…and seen.

On Friday, a sweet young lady sat in my chair for a haircut. She was nervous before we even started because she had walked away from previous appointments feeling unheard. She knew what she wanted but didn’t always feel comfortable speaking up. My goal wasn’t just to give her a haircut she loved—it was to make sure she felt safe enough to have a voice.

By the time she left, her smile said everything. Hearing that she hadn’t stopped talking about her haircut all evening was one of the greatest compliments I could have received.

Then yesterday, her mom came to see me.

Watching her daughter glow in a way she hadn’t seen in a long time reminded her that maybe she deserved to feel a little of that glow, too. So before the night was over, she booked an appointment for herself.

She admitted it had been a long time since she’d done something just for herself. As we spent the afternoon together, I learned more about the incredible woman sitting in my chair. She carries so much on her shoulders every single day, working full-time while pouring everything she has into her family. With back-to-school around the corner, life is only about to get busier.

Somewhere in the middle of our conversation, I glanced into the mirror and immediately saw one of my closest friends. It wasn’t really her—it was the way my client resembled her so closely that, for a moment, I forgot where I was. I smiled to myself because it felt like the universe’s gentle way of reminding me to be fully present. To listen beyond the words. To truly see the woman sitting in front of me for everything she was carrying, not just the appointment she’d booked.

As her color came together, I watched something else happen, too.

The woman looking back in the mirror started to soften.

Her shoulders relaxed. She smiled a little more. It was as if, for a brief moment, she could see herself beyond the responsibilities, the schedules, the endless to-do lists, and simply recognize the woman who had been there all along.

Those are the moments I’ll never take for granted.
Not because I changed someone’s hair…
But because, even for a little while, I helped someone reconnect with themselves.

To the moms carrying more than anyone realizes—I hope you remember that taking care of yourself isn’t a reward you have to earn. You deserve moments that fill your cup, too.

✏️As summer winds down and back-to-school routines begin, I had the opportunity to head back to my hometown to take care of some of my most loyal clients and friends.✂️

🚌One of my favorite things about offering mobile appointments is being able to bring the salon to you. It means parents don’t have to load everyone up, rearrange their day, or spend extra time on the road just to get their kids looking and feeling their best for the new school year.

Being able to come back home and serve the families who have supported me through every season of my journey is something I’ll never take for granted. Thank you for continuing to trust me with your hair—and for allowing me to make life just a little easier during one of the busiest times of the year.
