It’s been two weeks since our beloved Denise passed, and it’s been the longest two weeks since.

I met you 8 years ago when I started working at Blowout Bar behind the front desk while you created the most beautiful blowouts and updos. I remember immediately thinking “oh I like her” when I saw how spicy and truly yourself you always were. I was so honored every time you asked me to be a Guinea pig and hair model for extensions and ponytails and anything you put your magic to. Then we got to work alongside each other nearly every weekend during wedding days, where you’d execute the JUICIEST hairstyles and we would shoot the s**t across the room. Texting each other the day before a wedding saying how excited we were to work together or debriefing over the wedding day drama after we leave 😂 we knew if we didn’t see each other over the weekend, we’d at least pop into each others studios to say hi and hang. You’d always text me before you came in to see if Junie was with me so you could love on her.

The studio is a little quieter without hearing you walk around above our unit or making funny faces at each other through the window. Wedding days will never be the same, knowing you’re not at a different location if not working next to me.

Life won’t be the same. I’ve truly never experienced a loss like yours and it’s made an impact on me that will last until I see you again. I have an entirely different outlook on life and what I do as a makeup artist and promise to carry your legacy.

I chose this picture because it truly represents us as a group haha. We had such an amazing time this night, I’ve wanted to go back over and over. You were yelling at Erica for the finger 😂

We love you and miss you so much, Dennis. One of my clients said that Dolly Parton needed a hairstylist, and you were the best choice. I can’t argue with that, but keep paying your visits in the light flickering and butterflies. Also I know you’re the one behind my missing tweezers last weekend, thanks for that 😂🩷

Makeup is much more nuanced than influencers make it out to be.

This isn’t meant to discredit the work that influencers do (alsoooo guilty as charged for buying things I didn’t need because someone online told me to 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️) but there’s a difference between watching someone who’s being paid to talk about the product versus a professional who’s teaching you the why how what about it.

A few things in a my evening routine before wedding days ✨🪽

The time I spend with myself before wedding days begin is sacred, so I created an evening routine/checklist to allow me to have time in the morning to mentally and physically prepare for what wedding days can bring!

Anything I can do to save time getting ready and get a few extra minutes of sleep or avoid dead camera batteries when I try to take my pics, count me in!! I love helping my future self out 🙌🏻
