in honor of national esthetician day, i’d like to reintroduce myself!
my name is nicole, but everyone knows me better as nic. i’ve been in practice for 3 years, solo for 1 year, and a licensed instructor for a little under 6 months.
i’ve been interested in all things beauty & wellness for as long as i can remember. at 18, i remember touring beauty schools for the cosmetology avenue but just wasn’t ready to take the leap.
in my 20s, i discovered a deep passion for skin health & care. i was a freelanced makeup artist and a skin care product connoisseur for about 5 years.
in 2023, after hitting several low points in the call center world, my husband helped me realize my higher potential and i became a full-time student for esthetics. i had a lot of self-doubt as a 28 year old starting a career later than what society claims is normal, but i didn’t let that stop me.
upon graduation & passing my boards, i worked at a waxing chain for a couple of years to gain confidence, experience, & clientele.
from day one, i dreamt of being on my own. late 2025, i began the journey of bringing my solo esthetics career to life & at the start of 2026, ascension esthetics was born.
after about 5 months of being on my own, the universe sent a sign that i am capable of making the most of my career by sharing my knowledge & teaching aspiring estheticians. so now, in addition to practicing out of my studio, you can find me teaching the foundations of esthetics at my alum, the aveda institute of des moines!
being able to make a career out of something i am truly passionate about has changed my life for the best. i am incredibly proud and happy to be here. work is no longer just work, its no longer “i have to”; now it’s “i get to” & i am incredibly fulfilled. 🖤
