There is something extraordinarily rewarding about seeing Cattleya dowiana var. aurea in full bloom! Although this gorgeous flower opened in mid-June, every single bloom feels like a major milestone.
Growing and cultivating this iconic species in my environment has definitely tested my patience and care—it’s notoriously tricky, but that makes every successful bloom feel so much more special. Those intense golden petals paired with the rich, velvety crimson lip never fail to amaze me.
Definitely a prized gem in the collection! ✨

¡No hay nada más gratificante que ver una Cattleya dowiana var. aurea en plena floración! Aunque esta belleza floreció a mediados de junio, cada flor que regala se siente como un verdadero logro.
Cultivar esta especie tan emblemática en mi entorno ha sido todo un reto y ha exigido mucha dedicación, pero eso es precisamente lo que hace que cada floración sea increíblemente especial. El contraste entre sus pétalos dorados y su labelo carmesí siempre deja sin aliento.

Cattleya hardyana 'Suamena' was at its absolute peak a few weeks ago. This iconic natural hybrid (a cross between C. warscewiczii and C. dowiana) is always a total showstopper: the bold contrast of its petals with that deep velvety lip and striking yellow eyes is simply majestic.

Cattleya velutina was put on full display a few weeks back. Native to Brazil, this bifoliate species is a true collector's favorite for a reason—those waxy, tawny-bronze petals, paired with a bright white and purple-veined lip, are just stunning.
And the fragrance? Unmatched! Deep, sweet, and fills the entire patio when in full bloom. Always worth the wait when this one opens up! 🌿💛

Today in the patio, Cattleya mossiae suave 'Rio Claro' is blooming! This beautiful and rare Cattleya is originally from the wild in Venezuela.

This blooming is incredibly special for me. Two years ago, the plant was in such bad shape that I thought I’d lost it completely. Slowly but surely, it kept improving, and today it gave us the perfect gift: two beautiful new flowers.

This is all part of the amazing, rewarding challenge of growing orchids. It is always, always worth it! 💕
