BronchoThon
Founded in 2016, BronchoThon engages the Broncho community in generating awareness and financial support for the Oklahoma Children's Hospital Foundation. Great!
What is Dance Marathon? Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a movement of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for more than 170 pediatric hospitals. They are the only children’s charity committed to having 100% of the funds raised stay local to support local kids. Since it's inception, Miracle Network Dance Marathon has raised more than $135 million for kids across North America- ensuring that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone. Why was BronchoThon created? BronchoThon was created in 2016 to engage the Broncho community in generating awareness and financial support for the Oklahoma Children's Hospital Foundation. The CHF is the only non-profit organization in Oklahoma whose sole focus is the advancement of pediatric research and education programs to improve the health of children. Since their creation in 1983, Children’s Hospital Foundation has raised and leveraged matching funds to create more than $109 million for pediatric research and education programs. How does BronchoThon work? Throughout the academic year, students, faculty, and staff will participate in fundraising and awareness events. The finale event, BronchoThon, will be held in April. The 8-hour marathon will include musical entertainment, student-led activities, refreshments, and a heavy dose of *FUN*. We look forward to beginning a great tradition here at Central! Want to get get involved? We're excited to add you to the movement. Students can join our "Big Committee", which allows students to serve on a number of committees responsible for making BronchoThon a reality. Committees cover a wide range of responsibilities, from fundraising to entertainment to recruiting dancer. Click HERE to submit an interest form. We also encourage students, faculty, staff, and community members to take part in our fundraising efforts! When asked “Why BronchoThon,” she responded with: “I wanted to find an organization that aligned with my values and passions in life to give back and continue to learn and grow as a person. When I heard about BronchoThon, I knew that I wanted to connect with a group of people that valued children’s health and community as much as I do. Children are so much stronger and capable than people give them credit for so I want to be able to show others how we can continue learning from those we least expect it from.”

Lindsey is a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Sciences, and this is her first year on the team!
When asked “Why BronchoThon,” she responded with: “I have been with families in their most vulnerable states when one of their own is affected by illness. Whether it was through volunteering at hospitals or working as a CNA, I learned of the gaps that exist between healing and accessibility to resources. Additionally, I realized how little knowledge I had regarding the difficulties of affording treatment or staying in your home-state for services. Once I heard about BronchoThon, I was introduced to a movement that raises awareness for this information. Through the Children’s Health Foundation, BronchoThon advocates for Oklahoma’s children to receive the treatment they need.”
