Throughout the anniversary year, we’ll be sharing historic photographs, community memories, and stories that celebrate the people and places that have shaped our city. 🫶

Celebrate the totally rad 40 years of the City of Encinitas by going back to the 80’s! City of Encinitas, California

The city is celebrating this milestone birthday with a triple-feature affair of line dance lessons, a live band and an outdoor movie. This community celebration is completely free to attend. You’re encouraged to wear 80’s attire to any/all event activities!

🧳Pick up a 40th Anniversary Celebration tote bag and map of the event, while wearing your favorite 1980s outfit!
📍Cardiff 101 Farmer’s Market

🗺️View an exhibit concerning the history of the settlement and growth of Historic Encinitas, Green Valley/El Camino Real/ New Encinitas, Olivenhain, Leucadia and Cardiff-by-the-Sea, as well as an account of the long process through which Encinitas became incorporated.

🕺80’s Line Dance Extravaganza at Pacific View Arts Center. Dust off your boots and learn some fun, easy line dance steps with expert instruction before the beach activities begin!

🎥360 Video Booth with 1980’s props at Moonlight Beach.

🎤Live Concert with BETAMAXX at Moonlight Beach. Get ready to kick things into high gear! San Diego’s premier 80’s tribute band, BETAMAXX, will take the stage to perform a high-energy live set of the biggest hits from the 1980’s.

⏰6:30PM-8:30PM
🎬🍿Outdoor Movie: Back to the Future at Moonlight Beach. Once the sun goes down, look to the big screen for a special presentation of the 1980’s classic, Back to the Future. Bring your blankets and low-back beach chairs for an unforgettable evening as Marty McFly takes you on a ride through time.
