Today’s hospital visit reminded me of something I wish more women knew:

Recurrent UTIs become more common after menopause — and declining estrogen is one reason why.

As estrogen levels fall, the tissues of the va**na and urinary tract change, and there can also be changes in the protective bacteria that help defend against infection.

And here’s the part many women haven’t heard:

👉 Low-dose va**nal estrogen can significantly reduce recurrent UTIs in peri- and postmenopausal women.

In one clinical trial cited in the guideline, women using va**nal estrogen had a median of 0.5 UTIs per year compared with 5.9 per year with placebo.

Recurrent UTI is generally defined as 2 or more UTIs within 6 months or 3 or more within a year.

So if you keep getting UTIs ask your physician whether genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and va**nal estrogen should be part of the conversation.

Prevention is part of good primary care. 💛

It wasn’t just a soccer game—it was a moment of collective joy that united an entire nation. The celebration became so extraordinary that the President declared the next day a national holiday so people could continue celebrating.

As a physician, I love understanding what happens inside our bodies during moments like these.

✨ Dopamine increases, giving us feelings of reward and motivation.
❤️ Endorphins reduce pain and create a sense of euphoria.
🤝 Oxytocin strengthens our sense of connection and belonging.
😊 Serotonin helps stabilize mood and creates a feeling of well-being.
📉 Cortisol (our stress hormone) decreases.
🫀 Blood pressure and heart rate can improve as the body shifts into a more relaxed state.

While one soccer match won’t change your long-term health, moments of genuine joy, shared laughter, and connection are powerful reminders that emotional well-being is an important part of overall health.

Sometimes, medicine looks like a prescription.
Sometimes… it looks like celebrating with millions of people who believe in the impossible. ❤️🇪🇨

Reviews like this are the reason I chose Direct Primary Care. 🧡

Medicine should never feel rushed or transactional. My goal is to help patients feel heard, supported, and guided through even the most complex medical situations — with time, access, and a true partnership.

Being trusted to “quarterback” someone’s care is a responsibility I never take lightly. Whether it’s coordinating specialists, answering an early morning text before a trip, or simply making sure a patient understands the plan, this is what healthcare should look like.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey and for your incredibly kind words. Moments like these remind me why I opened Healthee MD.

🧡 It’s not ‘just aging’—and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

🧡 Perimenopause doesn’t always show up the way you expect.

🧡 It’s not just hot flashes.

🧡 It can look like:
• feeling off in your own body
• low energy despite doing “everything right”
• mood shifts you can’t explain
• weight gain that doesn’t respond like it used to
• losing interest in things you once enjoyed

🧡 And so many women… don’t bring it up.

🧡 Because they think:
“Maybe this is just normal”
“Maybe I just need to push through”

🧡 But here’s the truth—
🧡🧡🧡 You deserve to feel like yourself.

🧡 These symptoms are common, but they are not something you have to silently live with.

🧡 The more we talk about it, the better we can treat it.

Save this for your next visit
And if this sounds like you… it’s worth a conversation 🧡
