Our final Creative Connections with Women and Horses gathering of the summer was a beautiful way to close the season. We welcomed new faces alongside women who returned for more time with the horses, and once again, the herd reminded us that every gathering is a little different.
Throughout the summer, we've explored play, creativity, curiosity, and connection. The horses invited us into a peaceful rhythm, from simply running hands across their muscles, feeling their breath, and walking beside them; in the little adventures, in shared laughter, and in hearts opening just a little more. We painted, wrote, reflected, and discovered not only more about the horses, but about ourselves. The last activity was creating an empowerment garland that symbolized something personal and meaningful. Every moment became part of each person's own story.
One of my favorite parts is watching the horses communicate in their own way. Each horse has preferences, unique responses, and something to offer if we're willing to pay attention. Learning to notice those subtle conversations helps us learn more about the horse, and at the same time tap into our true self.
As summer begins to give way to a new season, I'm grateful for everyone who joined us and for the horses who continue to meet us with honesty, presence, and wisdom. They remind us to breathe, listen, and carry what we've discovered into whatever comes next. 🐴✨
With gratitude,
Becky
More gatherings to come. Come join us!
Thanks to the team and herd at Colby's Army, Inc.
People and horses sharing time and space is a special kind of connection. ✨
We’ve gathered to write, create, laugh, reflect, and discover alongside some remarkable horses. Every gathering looks a little different, yet each one is rooted in presence, curiosity, and relationship. It’s the power of experiential and facilitated learning.
Whether someone arrives seeking confidence, creativity, calm, or simply a few hours to breathe, the connection with horses often reveals something profound. And to express it through words or visually, gives the experience enduring meaning.
I’m so grateful for every person who has joined this growing community. There is more ahead, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Join us on this journey through Creative Connections with Horses.

Today we celebrate International Equine Assisted Services Day and the extraordinary power of the horse-human bond. 💙💚
Horses help people build confidence, develop new skills, participate more fully, heal and discover what is possible. Today, we recognize the equines, participants, practitioners, volunteers, educators and families who make these meaningful partnerships possible.
At the EQUUS Foundation, we believe horses have an unmatched ability to empower, teach and heal. We are proud to support equine organizations that make these experiences available while ensuring the welfare, comfort and dignity of every equine partner remain paramount.
Every connection matters. Every step forward matters.

Saturday's Creative Connections with Women and Horses was a beautiful reminder of what can transpire between human and horse. ✨
Throughout the morning, participants explored strength, confidence, and what it feels like to lead with calm presence. We noticed how each horse communicated differently: some asked for clear leadership, others naturally offered comfort, and each responded to the unique energy every person brought into the experience.
There was fun with horse charades and navigating an obstacle, followed by a co-creative painting activity with the horses. The conversations that followed were just as meaningful as we reflected on how horses communicate, express their needs, and invite us to become more aware of our own presence and energy.
And simply being in the presence of the quiet surroundings, the horses, and other women offered a comforting and inspiring morning.
Thank you to everyone who joined us with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn alongside these incredible horses. It was a joy to share the morning with you.
Thank you to the Colby's Army, Inc. team, Becky Bauer, and the amazing herd - Quincy, Tessie, Lex, Spike, and Andre. 🐴
Our next gathering on August 8 is full, but please message us if you'd like to be put on a waiting list, or if you'd be interested in another date.

We had another wonderful equine assisted learning session on Saturday. Lots of imoactful activities, including co-creating art with our therapy horses. Here, Spike gives a yawn of approval to his artistic talents.

Saturday was the first gathering in our summer series, Creative Connections with Women and Horses, and June invited us to embrace a little more play.
We welcomed a full group for time with the herd, followed by a creative activity decorating the horses. As a nonprofit that serves many children, Colby's Army had a treasure trove of decorations and paints (non-toxic) ready to go. The horses looked festive and beautiful, but the experience offered something deeper too - an invitation to let go of expectations, reconnect with creativity, and remember the simple joy of play.
Laughter and fun also filled the arena as participants painted, decorated, and connected. We wrapped up the morning with journaling and reflection, exploring what the horses, creativity, and a little playfulness had revealed.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, the volunteers, Colby's Army staff, and the wonderful herd. 🐴 ✨
