This is his story, as beautifully and lovingly written by his mom, Alissa Fawcett .

"September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️💛 Trenton, we will always keep your name alive.

Our son, Trenton, had Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT) , a rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma that typically develops as multiple masses in the abdomen and pelvis. (He thought he had a hernia from pushing too hard at the gym)

This cancer primarily affects children, young adults, and males. It is most frequently diagnosed in teenagers and young men aged 10 to 30. (He was 20)

DSRCT is challenging to treat and despite aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) it carries a very high risk of recurrence, with an estimated 5-year overall survival rate of roughly only 15% (Trenton fought for his life and lived only 18 months from diagnosis)

There is hope in the ongoing clinical trials of new targeted therapies, immunotherapy and vaccines including Fusion-Gene Targeted Vaccines (for Ewing Sarcoma & DSRCT), one of which was developed by Trenton’s oncologist and personal hero, Dr. Peter Anderson at the Cleveland Clinic (along with his amazing research team).

Trenton gave everything he could to contribute to additional research and data collection to help others battling this “terroristic” disease, as he called it. (He provided tissue samples for data collection and research, consented to the release of any and all clinical information that could be useful in advancing the treatment of DSRCT, and ultimately donated his body to the Cleveland Clinic to be used by current and future providers for research and training)

Hi, I’m the owner of Marigold!

I guess you could say I wasn’t quite finished owning a shop. After having other shops over the years, I thought I was done…until I saw an empty space in a bright yellow building that seemed to call my name. And, well, here we are!

This November, Marigold will celebrate two years, and I honestly can’t believe how quickly it has gone. What began as an empty space has grown into a little community of 33 incredibly talented and creative vendors, and I’m so proud of what we’ve created together.

When I’m not at the shop, I’m a wife, mom to four children, and grandma to 10 amazing grandchildren. My family is my greatest joy, and I feel lucky to have a life filled with people I love, creativity and a shop that I truly adore. Thank you for supporting Marigold, shopping small, and being part of our story!
