Ultra-Rare Facel Vega Found After 50 Years in a Garage Now Worth a Fortune
An exceptionally rare 1960 Facel Vega HK500 has resurfaced after sitting untouched in a North Wales garage for nearly 50 years, and experts say it could now be worth a small fortune.
Believed to be one of only 96 right-hand-drive HK500s made for the UK, the car was originally finished in Brunswick Blue with grey leather and first registered on July 15, 1960, wearing the number plate “WO 2.”
The car was discovered in a dirty, dust-filled state after 47 years of total neglect. Despite its condition, classic car specialists insist it is a remarkable find. The vehicle will be auctioned by H&H Classics in Buxton on April 26, where it is expected to attract strong bids, especially since rarer Facel Vega models have previously sold for up to £300,000.
Mike Davis of H&H Classics described the discovery as “an absolute gem,” noting that the car is complete, extremely rare, and an ideal restoration project. He added that models like the HK500 are perfect for collectors who find brands like Ferrari or Aston Martin “too mainstream.”
The car was first supplied to W.E. O’Shay of the Magnatex company before being owned by Londoner Kevin Silcock. Its last MOT inspection was in 1972 at 55,000 miles, shortly before being moved to Flintshire, where it was stored after the owner’s passing in 1976, and never driven again.
The HK500 has an impressive heritage. Celebrities such as Pablo Picasso, Sir Stirling Moss, and François Truffaut owned Facel Vegas, and the HK500 itself was considered one of the fastest cars of its era, capable of 0 - 60 mph in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of about 140 mph.
Now, after decades in the dark, this rusting yet highly collectible classic will finally head back into the spotlight at its upcoming auction.

The Historical & Engineering Angle (Best for high engagement)
Headline: From Forestry Workhorse to Off-Road Masterpiece! 🛠️💥
Did you know that vintage logging trucks like this were originally built to handle the absolute harshest, most punishing terrain in the timber industry? They relied on pure mechanical grit, heavy-duty axles, and massive torque to haul tons of lumber out of deep forests. 🌲🚛
Taking a piece of industrial history that was left to the elements and breathing new life into it takes serious patience and precision. We didn't just fix it up—we completely re-engineered this beast from the chassis up.
The Transformation: Stripped away decades of rust, reinforced the frame for modern off-road capabilities, added custom fabricated roll bars, and finished it with a stunning metallic candy-apple red paint job. 🎨🔥
The Result: A perfect blend of classic mid-century truck design and modern, heavy-duty off-road engineering.
What’s your favorite part of this build? The custom fabrication or that deep red shine? Let me know in the comments! 👇

The 1944 Ariel WNG 350 was one of Britain's most dependable military motorcycles during World War II. Powered by a 346cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine, it was designed for reliability, fuel efficiency, and easy maintenance in the toughest conditions. From delivering dispatches to transporting essential supplies, the WNG 350 earned its reputation through durability rather than speed. Today, it stands as a remarkable symbol of wartime engineering and timeless British craftsmanship.

Classic 1944 Ariel WW2 WNG 350💙🇬🇧💙
The Classic 1944 Ariel W/NG 350 was a legendary British military motorcycle produced by Ariel Motors during World War II, serving as a reliable workhorse for the Allied forces. Based on the pre-war overhead-valve (OHV) civilian Ariel NG model, this rugged machine was specially modified for battlefield conditions, featuring a increased ground clearance, a heavy-duty field stand, protective canvas bags, and a canvas cover over the air filter to survive harsh, dusty environments. Powered by a 348cc single-cylinder engine producing roughly 15 horsepower, it utilized a four-speed Burman gearbox and a girder-fork front suspension, completely lacking rear suspension as was standard for the era. The British Ministry of Supply heavily relied on the W/NG 350 for dispatch riders, convoy es**rt duties, and scout missions because its lightweight frame made it exceptionally nimble on muddy, torn-up European roads compared to heavier alternatives. Over 40,000 units were built throughout the war effort, and today, surviving original 1944 models are highly prized by military vehicle collectors and vintage motorcycle enthusiasts showcased on platforms like the Ariel Owners Motor Cycle Club for their historical authenticity, functional wartime engineering, and iconic olive drab or desert camouflage liveries.
