One of the hardest things I’ve had to learn is how to trust myself again. Not because I don’t know what I’m doing.
But because somewhere along the way, I got used to looking outside of myself for confirmation before making decisions I was already qualified to make.
And that will f**k with you.
You can have the experience. The receipts. The relationships. The vision. You can KNOW exactly where you want to go and still catch yourself waiting for somebody else to tell you it makes sense.
I don’t move like that anymore.
This year taught me that sometimes the decision won’t make sense to everybody around you because they can only see what exists. You’re responsible for seeing what could exist.
Some of the biggest opportunities in my career came from trusting an idea before I had proof it would work. Making the call. Sending the message. Asking for the meeting. Walking into the room. Creating the opportunity instead of waiting for somebody to hand it to me.
And sometimes trusting yourself means admitting when something isn’t working too.
That’s leadership I had to learn the expensive way.
I’m not interested in making decisions that everybody understands anymore.
I’m interested in making decisions that align with where I know I’m going. 🤎

Yesterday, I stood onstage at Chicago Nail Connect and announced that I’m the new Director of Education at DeEnti. Then peter.deenti and Frank DeSantis came up and put a lanyard with my new title around my neck. I looked out at that crowd and felt everything at once. 🥹
Thank you, Peter, Frankie, and the DeEnti team for trusting me with this role. And thank you to everyone who celebrated with us in that room.

You’re looking at the Director of Education at DeEnti. 🔥🤭 DeEnti By DeEnterprises | Acrylic System & Nail Supplies . I said those words onstage at Chicago Nail Connect today, and hearing the room respond was a moment I’ll never forget.
People ask me how I got here. They expect me to name a celebrity client, a connection, or one big break. But from doing nails in my mobile home to working on productions, teaching across the country, writing my book, and now stepping into this role, the answer has stayed the same:
I stayed a student.
I learned my craft. I learned my clients. I learned business. And this year especially, I had to learn myself.
I’m a Chicana. Soy Mexicana. 🇲🇽 I had to learn my way into rooms I once couldn’t imagine entering. Now I get to help lead education at a company that believes in the professional nail technician and where this industry can go.
Peter, Frankie, and the entire DeEnti team: thank you for trusting me with this responsibility. I’m proud to build this next chapter with you. 💙
