If your child is a chronic mouth breather, helping them breathe comfortably through their nose can affect a lot more than sleep.
You may see better rest, easier mornings, improved focus, less dry mouth, and healthier jaw & palate development while they’re still growing.
The important part is figuring out why they’re mouth breathing in the first place.
⚠️ If your child snores, sleeps with their mouth open, grinds, wakes up tired, or struggles to focus, comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to schedule an airway consultation with me in Mansfield.
✨ Comment SLEEP and I’ll send you my full nighttime checklist.
If your child regularly sleeps with their butt in the air, head hanging back, chin lifted, or mouth open, I don’t just call that a weird sleep position.
Sometimes kids move into those positions because breathing feels easier that way.

Most parents hear “growth” and think genetics, food, maybe hormones.
What many physicians don’t screen for is - how your child sleeps and breathes at night.
A lot of normal growth happens during deep sleep. So if your child is snoring, struggling to breathe, waking over and over, or never really settling into restful sleep, that can matter more than people realize.
If you’re in DFW, comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to schedule an airway consultation with me at Crosspointe Dental in Mansfield.

Some kids look completely fine during the day and still aren’t breathing well at night.
The clues can be easy to miss: crowded teeth, mouth breathing, constant congestion, trouble focusing, dark circles, restless sleep, or sleeping with their head tipped back.
One of these alone doesn’t tell me there’s an airway problem.
But when I start seeing a few of them in the same child, I want to know why.
If you’re in DFW and any of this looks familiar, call us at 817-592-8280 to schedule an airway evaluation with me at Crosspointe Dental in Mansfield.
✅ Comment CHECK and I’ll send you the checklist I use to help parents know what else to watch for.
Your child’s thumb sucking could be hiding an airway problem.
Sometimes it really is just comfort.
But if your child still needs their thumb at night, especially if they also mouth breathe, snore, sleep restlessly, or seem exhausted in the morning, I don’t want to focus only on getting the thumb out.
I want to know why they still need it.
Before the bitter polish, rewards, and reminders…take a closer look at the bigger picture.

A child who isn’t breathing comfortably while they sleep may spend the night working harder than we realize. They can be in bed for 10 hours and still not get the kind of restful sleep their brain and body need.
And kids don’t always look “sleepy” when they’re exhausted. Sometimes it looks like trouble focusing, hyperactivity, big emotions, irritability, or struggling at school.
If you’re in DFW and this sounds like your child, comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to schedule an airway evaluation with me at Crosspointe Dental in Mansfield. 💛

I get why never having to deal with a pacifier feels like a win.
No paci to wean later? One less thing to worry about!
But…did your baby not want the pacifier…or were they just never able to keep it in?
Those are two different things.
If the pacifier constantly fell out, your baby couldn’t get a good seal around it, or you were putting it back in over and over, I start paying attention to how their tongue and mouth are actually working.
Sucking takes tongue movement, suction, strength and coordination.
A baby can feed pretty well and still have things about their tongue, jaw, palate or oral function that are worth paying attention to as they grow.
Especially if you later start noticing mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, crowded teeth or a tongue that doesn’t seem to move the way it should.
Sometimes something that seemed totally insignificant as a baby makes a lot more sense when you look at the whole picture later.
