Trauma Therapy

Grateful for the power of support in this work, specifically from & .tiffany_simone 🤍
EMDR supervision and consultation have aallowed me to show up more grounded, more attuned, and more intentional for a client navigating the deep layers of childhood sexual trauma and OCD. This work is not meant to be done alone and I’m reminded of that every day.
Healing is complex. It asks for patience, skill, humility, and a willingness to keep learning.
So today, I’m sitting in gratitude for guidance, for community, and for the privilege of walking alongside my clients as they reclaim themselves.

Eid Mubarak 🌙✨
As this month comes to a close, it’s okay if your journey wasn’t perfect.
Healing isn’t linear, and growth doesn’t always look peaceful.
Today can be about:
🌿 Rest
🌿 Reflection
🌿 Connection
🌿 Compassion for yourself
Whether you’re celebrating, grieving, or just getting through the day, all of it is valid.
Wishing you peace, softness, and emotional ease this Eid 🤍

Key takeaways for parents:
• Start teaching children about their bodies from a young age and use the correct anatomical terms.
• Teach rules about bodies, not who is safe. No one, including other children or trusted adults, should touch a child’s private parts outside of health or hygiene, and even then it should be named and never secret.
• Help children understand the difference between safe touch vs unsafe touch and that secrets about bodies are never okay.
• This education should never be used to control or instill fear. Children who fear their parents are more likely to keep harmful secrets. Children who trust their parents are more likely to speak up.
Unfortunately, abuse can begin as early as infancy and is most often perpetrated by someone the child knows and trusts, including biological parents. Working as a trauma specialist has shown me—over and over again—that safety education must protect children regardless of who the unsafe person is.
Many parents delay these conversations because they feel taboo, awkward, or uncomfortable. Historically, society has avoided talking about this. But silence does not protect children—open, age-appropriate conversations do.
The reality is that systems meant to protect victims are imperfect and often fail. The long-term impact of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) is profound and lifelong. Prevention starts at home, with body autonomy, open communication, and removing secrecy.
I don’t expect this post to get a lot of engagement. Topics like this are often avoided. But seeing this video felt like my sign to speak on this publicly & create a series of educational material.
More educational content coming. 🙏🏽

Honoured to be featured in the Trinidad Express for “Emotions Not a Sign of Weakness,” a piece that aligns deeply with the work I do and the conversations I’m committed to creating. 💙
In recognition of International Men’s Day, I want to highlight something we often forget:
Men carry emotions too.
Men feel deeply.
Men deserve the same compassion, support, and understanding that we so freely extend to others.
For too long, emotional expression has been treated as a threat to masculinity, when in reality, it is a pathway to healthier relationships, mental wellbeing, and stronger communities.
As a therapist, I see the weight so many men carry in silence. And I also see the transformation that happens when they’re given permission to express, connect, and heal.
Let’s challenge the narrative.
Let’s make space.
Let’s support the men in our lives, our partners, fathers, brothers, friends, and our boys that growing into men.
Thank you for shining light on such an important conversation.
💙 Emotions are not weakness. They are human🤝

🪔 Diwali Greetings from Amala Healing 🪔
Wishing you all a bright and peaceful Diwali 🌸
In many ways, Diwali mirrors the journey of mental and emotional healing. It’s the celebration of light triumphing over darkness, wisdom conquering ignorance, and hope dispelling despair, the very essence of the inner work we do in therapy.
During Diwali, Hindus honor Goddess Lakshmi, who symbolizes not only material wealth, but also emotional abundance, clarity, peace, and renewal. Inviting Lakshmi into Hindus’ homes is a symbolic act of inviting mindfulness, balance, and healing into people’s lives.
Just as we declutter our spaces to welcome her blessings, we can also reflect on the importance of clearing the mind and heart…releasing old pain, guilt, or patterns that no longer serve us.
True prosperity isn’t only financial; it’s emotional and spiritual well-being & the ability to rest, connect, and live with a sense of inner peace.
This Diwali, take a moment to ask yourself:
✨ What am I ready to release to make space for peace?
✨ What light within me needs tending?
✨ What would it look like to invest in my emotional healing the way I prepare my home for this festival?
May this season remind you that healing, like Diwali, begins with one small light 💡 awareness. And that with the right support, that light can grow brighter than the pain that once felt overwhelming.
If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy or continuing your healing journey, this is your reminder that you don’t have to walk alone. 🌼
