"The Thief Who Got It All Wrong"

In a small village, there lived a young man named Budi. Budi was known far and wide for being extremely thrifty — in fact, he was so stingy that he would complain if he ever had to spend even a single penny. His neighbors would often just shake their heads whenever they saw his behavior.

One dark and stormy night, a thief snuck into Budi’s yard. He had been eyeing Budi’s house for a while, having heard rumors that Budi was very rich and kept piles of money stored inside. The thief thought to himself, "Wow, I’m definitely going to get a huge fortune tonight!"

Carefully, he broke a small part of the window glass and crept inside the pitch-black house. It was quiet inside, with only the sound of heavy rain falling outside. The thief began to feel his way around, opening drawers, rummaging through cabinets, and searching for a box where the money might be kept. He spent almost an hour searching everywhere, but found absolutely nothing. Not even a single coin.

"Huh? Where is all his wealth? Everyone says he’s the richest man in the village!" the thief muttered to himself, growing frustrated and confused.

Feeling tired, disappointed, and cold, he sat down on a chair right next to Budi’s bed, where Budi was sleeping soundly. He stared at Budi with an angry look, feeling completely fooled by what he had heard.

Suddenly, Budi woke up because he was thirsty. He turned to his side and was shocked to see a stranger sitting right there in the dark.

"Who are you?! What are you doing in my house?!" Budi shouted, scrambling to turn on the light.

The thief stood up, no longer trying to hide. He glared sharply at Budi and spoke in an annoyed tone, "I’m a thief! I’ve been here for an hour, searching every corner, but I found nothing! People say you’re rich — so where is all your wealth, huh?!"

Budi, who had been terrified just a moment ago, suddenly sat up straight. His expression changed completely from fear to pure rage. He pointed his finger right at the thief’s chest and shouted even louder:

"You say you’re a thief?! And you’re asking me where my wealth is?! That’s a question for YOU! I was sleeping peacefully just now, but when I woke up — my wallet, my watch, AND my phone are ALL GONE! And now you dare ask me where my things are?! You took them, so you should know where they are! How can you ask ME?! Are you a thief or just a big liar?!"

The thief fell instantly silent, his mouth hanging wide open in shock, unable to say a single word. It turned out... while he was wandering around in the dark earlier, he had unknowingly taken all of Budi’s belongings and stuffed them into his own pockets. But he was so focused on finding a treasure chest that he completely forgot and didn't even realize he had already stolen everything! 🤣🤣🤣
