For me, Juneteenth carries an even deeper meaning.
Growing up, my father, the legendary Butch Lewis, taught my brothers and me that there were no limits to what we could accomplish. He instilled in us a simple but powerful belief: with faith, hard work, and a can-do attitude, anything is possible.
One of my proudest moments was becoming one of the first generations in my family to graduate from college. This photograph of my father and me on graduation day represents so much more than a degree—it represents sacrifice, perseverance, opportunity, and the dreams of those who came before us.
As we honor Juneteenth, I also celebrate my father’s life and legacy. His birthday is June 26, and in his honor, we’re extending our Juneteenth celebration all the way through midnight on June 26.
