One woman. One tree. One idea everyone said was too small to matter.
Wangari Maathai grew up in rural Kenya watching the forests around her disappear — and she decided to do something about it. She didn't wait for permission. She didn't wait for funding. She just started planting.
Tree by tree, she taught women across her country how to fight back against deforestation, poverty, and silence. What started as a handful of seedlings became the Green Belt Movement — over 50 million trees planted across Africa.
In 2004, she became the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
She proved something the world needed to hear: you don't need permission to start. You just need a seed and the will to plant it. 🌳

Suryavarman II, the powerful 12th-century monarch of the Khmer Empire, ascended the throne through military prowess and unified a vast realm spanning modern-day Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos. Renowned as a visionary builder and devout follower of Vishnu, he immortalized his reign by constructing Angkor Wat—the world's largest religious monument—designed as both a grand temple and a celestial mausoleum. Despite his monumental architectural legacy and fierce military campaigns against rival kingdoms, much of his personal life and exact circumstances of death remain shrouded in ancient mystery🤔🐆🤔
