It has been a heartbreaking week for the Downingtown Heat family as we mourn the loss of one of our own, Kevin Donohue — a junior at Malvern Prep. Kevin was one of the greatest kids I’ve ever had the privilege to coach. He was a leader, a fierce competitor, a kind soul, a selfless teammate, and simply a joy to be around.

From Coach Riddick: “Over the many years I coached him, Kevin taught me more about the true meaning of team sports than I ever could have imagined. Simply put, he was a superstar”.

On behalf of the entire Heat family, we extend our deepest prayers and condolences to the Donohue family. I am devastated by this tragedy, but I am grateful for the time we were blessed to share with him.

To honor his legacy, we are retiring Kevin’s number ( #34). No other athlete will ever wear that number again for the Heat. Kevin — you will be deeply missed. We know the Lord has welcomed one of His angels home.
