Today, I intentionally took time for myself. I enjoyed a much-needed massage and got my own hair retightened. 💆🏽‍♀️🔒

I often tell my clients that consistency is important when it comes to maintaining healthy locs, and the same principle applies to taking care of ourselves. Self-care isn't selfish—it's necessary. When we take time to rest, recharge, and maintain our well-being, we're able to show up as our best selves for our families, businesses, and communities.

Consider this your reminder to schedule the appointment, take the break, drink the water, get the massage, and do the thing that helps you feel refreshed. You can't pour from an empty cup. ✨

🚨 Breaking News: Local Loctician Caught Doing Something Other Than Hair! 🚨😂
Y'all are used to seeing me with a crochet needle, clips, and locs... but today I traded in my retie tools for balloons! 🎈✨
In this video, I'm creating a balloon garland entrance for my niece's 8th Grade Social, proving that creativity doesn't stop at the salon door. Listen, once you're the family member who "knows how to make things look nice," there is no escape. One minute you're retightening locs, the next minute you're hanging from a ladder arguing with a balloon that refuses to cooperate. 😭🤣
Thankfully, the mission was accomplished, the balloons stayed where they were supposed to, and my niece got the grand entrance she deserved! 💕🎈
Who else has a family that volunteers them for jobs they never applied for? 👀😂

One of the most important parts of maintaining healthy locs is making sure they stay hydrated. Moisture helps support flexibility, softness, and overall hair health, which is why every retie service ends with a moisturizing treatment.
After your fresh retie is complete, I start by misting your hair with my homemade rose water blend to add hydration and refresh your locs. 🌹💦 Then I massage your scalp with my Basket & Lather Scalp Stimulator Oil to nourish the scalp and encourage a healthy environment for growth. Finally, I finish with a light application of Basket & Lather Elixir Oil on the locs to help seal in moisture and leave your hair looking and feeling amazing. ✨🔒
