One of my favorite parts of starting someone’s loc journey is watching what happens after installation day! 😍
For this client, we started her journey using the Two-Strand Twist method, and typically, I like to have my first follow-up appointment around 4 weeks after installation.
BUT… we checked in at that point and guess what? 👀
Sis didn’t need a retie yet! 🙌🏾
So instead of retightening hair that wasn’t ready, we listened to her hair and pushed her next appointment out to 6 weeks. THAT is why those follow-ups and check-ins are so important! Your loc journey should be based on what YOUR hair needs, not simply following a calendar.
And the best part? Her hair is growing, thriving, and she is LOVING every minute of this journey! 🥹🤎🔒
Healthy locs + patience + proper maintenance = a beautiful journey! ✨
🎶 Alsoooo… GO CHECK OUT THE SONG I USED! 👀🔥 If you're a content creator, save this sound and use it for one of YOUR videos. I'm telling you—don't sleep on it! 😂

🚨 Calling all DIY Loc Wearers! 🚨🔒
One question I get all the time is, "Do you accept transfer clients who started their own locs?"
The answer is... YES! 🤎
However, there are a few guidelines and exceptions. Every DIY set is different, which is why I require a consultation before accepting any transfer client. During the consultation, I'll assess the health of your locs, your parting system, your maintenance, and discuss your goals to determine the best path forward.
My goal isn't to judge how you started your journey—it's to see if I can confidently maintain your locs while preserving their integrity and helping you achieve healthy, long-lasting results.
Sometimes the answer is an enthusiastic "Let's do it!" 🙌🏾
Sometimes I may recommend making a few adjustments first.
Either way, you'll leave with honest, professional guidance that's in the best interest of your hair.
If you've been maintaining your own locs and are ready to transition to a Loctician, I'd love to see if we're a good fit. Send me a message to schedule your consultation! 🤎✨

✨ Sometimes healing looks like holding on... and sometimes healing looks like letting go. 🤎🔒✂️
I had the privilege of working with a beautiful transfer client who came to me with 22½ inches of gorgeous microlocs. Life happened, appointments were missed, and over time she began experiencing thinning throughout her locs.
After a thorough consultation, we made the decision to cut her locs and begin maintaining them from there—and let me tell you, the transformation was incredible. 🙌🏾
As Black women, we often place so much value on the length of our hair because we know the journey it takes to grow it. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with loving long hair. But sometimes we hold on to length that’s no longer serving the health of our hair simply because of the time it took to get there.
Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is let go.
A fresh cut isn’t the end of your journey—it’s the beginning of a healthier one. Hair grows, confidence returns, and healthy foundations will always outshine unhealthy length. 🌱✨
Don’t be afraid to choose what’s best for your hair over what’s longest. Your future self will thank you.
Have you ever had to make the difficult decision to cut your hair for its health? Share your experience in the comments! 💬🤎

✨ Welcome to all my new followers, and welcome back to everyone who has been rocking with me for a while! ✨
I figured it was time for a proper introduction and reintroduction. Hey y’all, my name is Donjia (Don-yay) Walls! 💛 I’m a 35-year-old faith-driven Loctician (birthday coming up in November 🎉) located in the Essex County, New Jersey area, and I specialize in helping people embrace and maintain their loc journeys.
Although I have officially been solely focused on locs for almost 3 years, my hands have been in hair for 10+ years. This journey has been a beautiful transition, and I’m grateful that God has allowed me to turn my passion, creativity, and gift into a purpose-driven business.
Outside of the salon, I’m a wife of 6 years and a mother of two, and those roles have shaped me in so many ways. I believe that who we are outside of our careers matters just as much as what we create behind the chair.
One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I’m not just here to do hair — I value connection, trust, and alignment with my clients. Your loc journey is personal, and I want the experience to be one where you feel seen, respected, and cared for.
At the same time, I’ve learned that every client relationship is not always meant to continue forever. I’m a believer in protecting the peace, honoring boundaries, and making sure that the client and stylist relationship is mutually beneficial. I’m not afraid to say no to a client if I don’t feel we are the right fit, and I’m also not afraid to gracefully disconnect when a relationship no longer serves either person.
My goal has always been to create a space where my clients receive quality hair care, honesty, encouragement, and an experience that reflects excellence. ✨
So whether you’re new here or you’ve been watching, liking, sharing, and supporting from the beginning… thank you for being here. I’m excited to continue sharing my journey, my work, my faith, my family, and all that God is doing through Loc’d In His Image. 🤎🔒
Welcome in! 🫶🏾

POV: Me hitting the Camden Bop while turning a bundle of human bulk hair into custom interlocked microloc extensions. 😂💃🏽🔒
Some people see loose hair... I see future locs. 😌✨ One strand at a time, one dance move at a time! 😂

💧 Water changes your locs... but it doesn’t have to compromise them! 🔒
When your hair becomes saturated, each strand swells. Without braiding and banding, that swelling can increase movement, lead to slippage, and slow the maturation process of new and maturing locs. A few extra minutes before wash day can make a big difference in protecting the foundation of your loc journey!
Have questions about braiding and banding? Drop them in the comments—I’d love to help! 👇🏽🤎

POV: My clients: "Do you have a business card?" 🤔😂
Me: "Actually... I have something even better!" 🔑✨
I wanted to give my clients a little thank-you gift, but I also wanted to solve a problem. Instead of handing out another business card that might end up in a wallet, purse, or the infamous "junk drawer" 😂, I gifted them a custom keychain!
Not only does it feature a cute animated version of me (because why not? 💁🏽‍♀️😂), but it also has all the ways someone can contact me. My clients are walking billboards every single day, so I figured I might as well make it easy for them to send people my way! 📱🔒
And yes... before y'all ask... my little trouble child made it all the way to the end and she got a keychain too. 😂🤍 Some perks come with being the boss's baby!
A HUGE shoutout to my amazing best friend for bringing this vision to life! You absolutely understood the assignment, and I couldn't love them more! 🫶🏽✨

🎺 POV: The trumpet starts getting louder... because you're in the FINAL stretch of a microloc install. 😂🙌🏽
At first you're focused. Then you're counting sections. Then your back starts negotiating with you. 😅 But when you realize there are only a few locs left? Baby, that trumpet starts sounding like a victory parade! 🎉🔒
People see the finished style, but they don't always see the patience, precision, and hours of consistency that go into creating hundreds of tiny locs—one by one. Every single loc matters, and crossing that finish line is always worth it! 🤍
To every loctician out there... if you've ever heard the imaginary trumpet playing during those last few rows, welcome to the club. 😂🎺

☀️ Let's settle this once and for all… 😂
What's your go-to drink to start your day? 👀☕
Are you team coffee? ☕️
Team tea? 🍵
Energy drink? ⚡️
Smoothie? 🍓
Or are you one of those amazing people who actually starts the day with water? 💧😂
Drop your answer in the comments—I want to know what gets you going every morning! Who knows... I might even have to try some of your favorites. 🤎👇🏽
Let's have some fun! Comment below and don't forget to see if someone else drinks the same thing you do! 😄
