Alcohol perfume vs. botanical perfume oil — why they wear so differently 👇
Most traditional perfumes are alcohol-based. The alcohol is what gives you that strong first spray — it lifts scent off skin fast.
But alcohol also evaporates fast. That's why sprays can feel loud at first, then faint by afternoon. And that sharp blast can feel drying or overwhelming if you're sensitive.

So naturally, I made something about it.
Meet Bug Off Balm, one of my favorite SNJ experiments, born out of pure softball-mom necessity. 🌿
Citronella takes center stage, blended with eucalyptus, lemongrass, peppermint, and our nourishing tallow base.
I’ve been putting this little balm through its paces ALL summer, from Florida softball fields to New Orleans, and it’s become a personal favorite!
Bonus? It hasn’t melted in my softball bag despite the Florida heat. 🙌
Months of field testing, and this little experiment has earned some love.

SNJ has been a little quiet lately. Not because nothing is happening. Because life is. 🌿
My birthday comes 10 days after my twins’, which means most years, by the time we get to mine, I’ve already poured everything into making theirs special.
Mom comes last. You know the drill.
But this year I’m turning 40.
And I don’t want to rush past this one.
I want slow breakfasts. Slow mornings. Too many plants. A ridiculous amount of potting soil. Even cat grass in a desperate attempt to convince my tiny house terrorists to leave my actual plants alone. 😂
Mostly, I want to practice giving myself some of the same care I so naturally give my daughters, my plants, this business, and everyone I love.
Maybe that’s what this season is about.
Nurturing what matters, including me.
So SNJ may be a little quieter online while I live some of these moments instead of immediately turning them into content.
A short girls’ trip is coming. A milestone birthday is coming. And I have a feeling I’ll come back with a full heart, fresh energy, and entirely too many ideas for what SNJ becomes next. 🤎
For now, we’re growing quietly.
And honestly, that feels pretty good. 🌿

Meet Rosewood. 🌹

Our newest botanical perfume oil, handcrafted in small batches.
And now that she sold out at her first market- Rosewood is officially available online. 🤎
If you missed yesterday’s market, you may have missed a few surprises. 👀
Our little tallow facial bars made their debut as a market-only tester, and I think I’m going to keep it that way for now. Part of the fun of shopping SNJ in person is finding something that hasn’t made it online yet. 🌿
So expect more surprise testers at future markets.
But Rosewood? The people have spoken. 🌹
