How I spent last summer!
….sweating it up & working with the good folks from Hershey!
Shout out to all the departments on this period film set in the late 1890’s- 1900’s- the sets, cars, props, hair and wardrobe, and the cast, were all so spectacular!
I loved my bosses and had the opportunity to work with the background on this show, who all did such an amazing job working in the early morning hours, or late at night, in the blazing heat, in the wool costumes, corsets and pointy toed vintage shoes for 12-16 hours every day- congratulations to a job well done.
👏🙌🏻⭐️
Our job in the makeup department consisted mainly of: covering up tattoos, removing false nails, eyelashes, shaving lots of beards, and adding some facial hair, mustaches or sideburns to some of the hundreds of background artists that worked on the show.
There was very little makeup, if any, applied to the women on this show- the high society women wore some lipstick and rouge.
A select few got to wear some Burt's Bees lip balm, and maybe the tiniest bit of gel blush, but that was it.
No mascara, no eyeliner, no nail polish, fake nails, or piercings…every single person working on the show had to go through hair and makeup before they went on to set, especially when it’s a period film.
Every trace of makeup that some of the background would show up wearing, had to come off. We did a lot of eyebrow correcting, covered up some blemishes, permanent eyeliner, and even filled in pierced earring or nose ring holes! Women also did not “tan” like they do today- their skin was very pale back in those days.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this heartwarming film this fall and so thankful for the opportunity, and also the abundance of chocolate on set every day;)

Behind the scenes with one of my most favorite Pittsburgh Steelers player ever… Troy Polamalu!
This was such a memorable campaign to work on back in 2008, as we got to recreate the infamous Mean Joe Green Coca Cola superbowl ad at Heinz Field. The commercial aired during the 2009 Super Bowl that we ended up winning that year, making it even more special;)🥰
Troy was so soft spoken, humble, quiet, pious, and so kind to everyone on set…but such a beast when he was on the field!
