Your skin barrier is damaged if…
•you’re breaking out more tan usual
•feels tight even after moisturizing
•redness or irritation shows up easily

What to do immediately if you notice the damaged skin barrier?
•stop over-exfoliating
•pause retinol or strong actives
•avoid mixing too many products
•don’t chase “instant results”

What actually repairs your skin barrier?
•Ceramides
•Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
•Hyaluronic Acid/Glycerin
•Panthenol (B5)

You might be using the wrong type of acid

Not all acids do the same thing:
• Salicylic acid (BHA) → best for oily, acne-prone, clogged pores
• Glycolic acid / Lactic acid (AHA) → better for texture, dullness, pigmentation

👉 If you have clogged pores or acne but used AHA, you likely won’t see much improvement.

It’s because you didn’t use it long enough (or used it inconsistently)

Acids need time:

• Skin Glowing: ~2-4 weeks
• Acne / clogged pores: ~4-6 weeks
• Anti-aging : ~8-12 weeks

Using it on and off = basically resets your progress.

If you don’t wear SPF after using the acid, you make your skin more sun-sensitive

Acids (especially AHAs like glycolic/lactic) exfoliate the top layer of your skin.

👉 That means:
• your “protective layer” is thinner
• UV damage penetrates more easily

So without sunscreen, your skin is basically more exposed than usual.

Vitamin C–rich foods like citrus, broccoli, tomato, bell peppers, and kiwi help brighten dull skin, support collagen production, and fade pigmentation.
