But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23
NIV (translation)

We can not produce spiritual fruit on our own because it goes against our sinful nature. The Holy Spirit dwells within us, allowing us to exude the fruit that is spoken of in today's verse. This is why it's so important that we stay connected to the vine (John 15:5). To be Christlike is a lifelong journey and a constant denying of the flesh.

As we move throughout our day, may we be reminded of the fruit of the Spirit and be a representation of what that looks like. May we pause before we respond, present a smile to a stranger, and lend a hand to those in need.

NIV (translation)

When David prays, "Create in me a clean heart," he is asking God for forgiveness. He acknowledged his sin, experienced intense conviction, and sought the Lord for cleansing.

Our hearts need constant purification, and our spirits need constant renewing in order for true transformation to take root. It begins with repentance and a desire to live our lives in alignment with the Lord. Only God can do that. We can not fix ourselves.

Feeling convicted (not shame/condemnation) is a blessing because it reveals that we truly love God. It means that we desire to walk upright and remain in fellowship with Jesus. As we repent, may we rely on God, turn away from our strongholds, and surrender it all to Jesus. We thank Him for His grace and mercy.

There is a cost to being a disciple. It is not for the weak, for you will experience hardships and all kinds of trials and tribulations, but the joy, peace, and true fulfillment are worth it. May your faith sustain you as you continue to follow Jesus.

Our salvation is not based on performance; our good works or good deeds. However, as believers, we ought to be a good example of what it means to have a servants heart. Set the tone, be set a part, change the atmosphere, and be the changemaker willingly and sincerely as though we are serving the Lord. We may never receive earthly praise or rewards, but we have been promised an eternal inheritance.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
