Your natural brow hair, skin tone, undertone, eye color and overall contrast all matter when choosing a pigment. Sometimes a softer, slightly lighter brow actually looks better with dark hair because it keeps the face from feeling too weighed down.

If you’re someone who changes your hair seasonally, this is exactly why I’m careful not to chase your current hair color with permanent pigment. Your brows should still make sense if you go lighter again in the spring.

For this client, the goal was to create structure and definition without making the brows feel heavy or overpowering her features. Her natural brows, facial proportions, existing hair, and desired look all played a role in the mapping process.

Especially with mature skin, I’m looking at more than just where the brow hair naturally grows. I’m considering how the shape will complement the face as a whole and how the finished brow will read once healed. 💫
