A growing number of our community members live in neighborhoods with Homeowner’s Associations, covenants, or deed restrictions. With a little creativity and a lot of love for our insect neighbors, these spaces can be transformed into havens for pollinators!
In this webinar, Xerces Society staff Aaron Anderson and Jacqueline Buenrostro will discuss the many ways we can support the amazing invertebrates within HOA communities, with tips, tricks, and new resources to share for creating and maintaining habitat that is “HOA-ready.”

California is first again!
It was great to join Governor Gavin Newsom, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, and UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk for the signing of AB 2244, creating the nation’s first state seal for non-ultraprocessed food.
Modeled after the USDA Organic label, this new law will give families a simple, trustworthy way to spot healthier foods at a glance.
Grateful to Environmental Working Group and our incredible coalition for helping us get this landmark legislation across the finish line!

You've heard us say trees are natural air filters ... but how exactly? 👇
All parts of a tree work together to catch and trap air pollution, including dust, smoke, and pollen. The leaves of a tree have tiny pores all over them that act like hundreds of filters and trap particles as air passes by. The rough surfaces of branches and bark also catch pollutants, while the spaces between leaves help filter them out. All the pollutants that get caught on the surface of the tree or absorbed into it are effectively removed from the air we breathe.
How amazing is it that a single tree can have the air-filtering power of hundreds of tiny filters!?
