🌴🍂 Scent of the Day: Caribbean Fall Edition — Cacao 🍫🤎

Who said fall fragrances have to be pumpkin spice and apple c***r? 👀

Growing up in the Caribbean, rainy days had a scent of their own. 🌧️

Whenever the heavy rain started pouring, my mom would grate cacao and pair it with cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and brown sugar to make a warm cup of cocoa tea.

The rich aroma of cacao mixed with those warm spices would fill our home, creating a feeling of comfort that I still remember today. 🤎

🍫 Here’s a little fragrance fact: Cacao’s aroma is much more complex than the sweet chocolate we’re familiar with! Through fermentation and roasting, cacao develops rich, earthy, nutty, and sometimes fruity notes.

For me, Caribbean Cacao isn’t just a fragrance. It’s the sound of rain on the roof, the warmth of home, and memories of my mom in the kitchen.

Because fall doesn’t smell the same everywhere, and sometimes the most comforting scents are the ones that remind us of where we come from. 🌴🍂

Farmers Market #2 is loading! 🛍️🍂✨

Our first farmers market taught us A LOT, and this time we’re putting those lessons into action!

Here are 4 things we’re doing differently:

🛍️ Bigger table, smaller tent! We’re learning that it’s not always about having more space, but making better use of the space we have.

🕯️ More interactive displays! One of the biggest questions we received was, “How do wickless candles work?” So this time, we’re making sure our candle warmer is front and center!

🎃 A little something sweet! Since our next market is during Halloween, we’re bringing festive treats to make the experience even more enjoyable.

💌 Business cards are a must! Not everyone is ready to purchase on the spot, and that’s okay! We want people to have a way to connect with us long after the market ends.

💡 Our biggest takeaway? Your first farmers market isn’t just about making sales. It’s about gathering feedback, understanding your customers, and learning how to improve.

We’re taking what we learned from Market #1 and putting it to the test at Market #2!

Things you need at the farmer’s market that nobody tells you about 👀🛍️✨

After doing our first market with YGM Creations, we quickly realized there are a few things you definitely want to have figured out BEFORE market day. 😂

⛺ A tent — For outdoor markets, this is typically a requirement, so make sure you have one ready to go! And don’t forget to check the market’s size and setup requirements before buying yours.

✨ A proper display — Plan this ahead of time! Many markets want to see what your booth setup will look like before approving your application, so having a display you’re proud of matters.

🎀 A banner — Another thing you’ll want to have ready ahead of time! Your banner makes it clear who you are and helps your booth stand out.

🧊 And of course… THE COOLER. 😂
Cold water, drinks, snacks…TRUST US. After hours of setting up, standing, selling, and talking to customers, you’ll be very happy you brought it.

Every market teaches us something new, so we’re sharing what we learn along the way. 💕 Hopefully this helps another small business owner feel a little more prepared for their first market!

One of the most valuable parts of being at the market wasn’t just selling our candles. It was getting to actually talk to you.

We heard everything from, “OMG, this smells amazing!” 😍 to “Wait…how do you warm a candle without a wick?” 😂🕯️

And we loved EVERY question.

Those conversations helped us realize what we’re explaining well and, more importantly, what we could be explaining better.

At the Farmers’ Market, people could actually smell our candles, see them up close, and ask the question we heard A LOT:

And we loved it!

It gave us the opportunity to explain why we created them, how they work, and what makes the experience different.
