Have you ever found yourself wondering why two lotions can promise the same thing, yet be made so differently?

That's one of the questions we kept coming back to while creating ours.

Petroleum-derived ingredients have earned their place in skincare. They're well studied, effective, and trusted for helping skin hold onto moisture.

We simply chose a different path.

We formulated our hand and body lotion with renewable, plant-based ingredients because understanding where our ingredients come from matters to us just as much as how they perform.

It's not about saying one approach is right, and another is wrong. It's about making choices that reflect what we believe in.

What matters most to you when you choose a lotion? 🍃

Someone asked us why we don't just use glycerin like pretty much every other lotion.

It’s an honest question — it works, it's affordable, nothing wrong with it.

But we wanted to be able to point to every ingredient and tell you exactly where it came from and why it's there.

Coconut oil, grapeseed, cocoa butter, olive-derived squalane. All of it added for a real reason.

That's just how we build things. 🌿

There's something about a thick, heavy lotion that just feels trustworthy, isn't there?

Like the weight of it means it's working.

We thought about this a lot when building our formula because thickness is really just texture, not performance.

What keeps your skin feeling good through a full day is whether the right ingredients are actually in there doing the right jobs together.

A lighter formula built thoughtfully will always beat something dense that's mostly water and fragrance.

Worth knowing before you reach for the heaviest thing on the shelf.

Think about how many times your hands go under water on a normal day.

Cooking, washing up, helping kids, repeating all of it again before dinner.

Every wash does its job, but it takes a little of your skin's natural oils with it every time too.

By evening, hands that felt fine that morning can feel rough and just tired.

That's not anything you're doing wrong. It’s just what hands go through every day.

And it's a big part of why we made Oonly Organic.

Because hands that work the hardest deserve something genuinely good at the end of it.

Nobody explains how lotion truly works.

It says "moisturizing" on the front, and you trust it. Fair enough; you've got better things to do.

But moisturizing ingredients do three different jobs.

Some draw water toward your skin. Some smooth and soften it. Some slow down how that moisture escapes.

None of them is enough alone.

But when a formula gets all three working together, you feel the difference hours later, not just in the first two minutes.

Okay, real talk.

You apply lotion, your hands feel great, and two hours later you're dry again and reaching for the bottle.

If you wash your hands a lot throughout the day (and a lot of us do), that's just part of the rhythm.

Soap strips, you reapply, life goes on.

But here's something worth knowing: adding moisture and keeping moisture are two completely different things.

Most lotions do the first part fine. It's the second part where things fall apart, and your skin ends up feeling the difference by mid-afternoon.

Once you know that, you start reading labels very differently.

Long before skincare became an industry, people worked with what was around them.

Along the Mediterranean coast, that often meant olives.

Not just olive oil — the entire plant.

Different parts serving different purposes, passed from one generation to the next.

There's something reassuring about ingredients with that kind of history.

Not because old traditions are automatically better.

But because ingredients tend to survive for centuries when they keep proving their value, and that's a form of honesty no marketing can manufacture.

When people talk about plant-based skincare, the conversation usually ends at one question:

Is it vegan?

Fair question.

But it's not the only one worth asking.

How was it sourced?
Why was it chosen?
How does it perform?
What values shaped that decision?

Ingredients tell a story long before they reach a formula.

For many people, caring about skincare isn't just about results.

It's about feeling connected to the choices behind the product itself.

There was a time when waiting for lotion to absorb was simply part of the deal.

Apply it. Wave your hands around. Avoid touching anything important for a few minutes. Hope for the best.

Today, most of us don't have much patience for that.

We're answering texts, packing lunches, heading into meetings, washing dishes, helping kids, juggling a dozen things at once.

The products we use have to keep up with real life.

A lotion doesn't need to demand your attention. It should support your day and then get out of the way.

You shouldn't have to think twice about it.

Olive oil gets all the attention.

Olive wax barely gets mentioned, which is funny, because if you've ever used a lotion that felt silky, balanced, and easy to apply, there's a good chance olive wax was doing a lot of the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

It comes from the same ingredient family as olive oil, but plays a completely different role.

It creates structure, stability, and texture.

And it’s the difference between ingredients that exist together and ingredients that work together.

Most people will never look for it on a label.

But it's one of those ingredients that can completely change how a lotion feels in your hands. 👐
