We made it to Pony Finals. 🤍

For months, that was the goal. It was written on calendars, talked about in lessons, planned around, packed for, qualified for, mildly panicked about and worked toward one day at a time.

A whole group of kids had a goal to get there — and they did. They put in the lessons, learned to handle the good days and the very much not-good days, kept showing up, and grew up quite a bit in the process.

The ribbons were wonderful, but I think what I’m most proud of is everything it took just to get there.

The kids who kept working, the parents who said yes approximately 4,000 times and continued answering my texts. The staff who worked the long days before the long days even started, packed and repacked everything we own and kept an unreasonable number of ponies looking like they had never rolled in their lives.

The vets, farriers, braiders, bodyworkers and everyone else who participated in the group project that is getting horses to Kentucky in August sort of mid Blowing Rock and directly after six weeks of Tryon.

These ponies carried their kids toward some very big goals, occasionally with their own interpretation of the plan, though nonetheless to the best of their abilities

It takes a village, a lot of coffee and apparently several thousand group texts.

And yes, we brought home some pretty ribbons too. 🤍
