After spending her formative years battling debilitating menstrual pain, founder Mimi Millard felt the frustration of being held back by her period. Her fruitless search for natural solutions eventually culminated in an adverse reaction to a popular painkiller, landing her in the hospital. Jolted and more motivated than ever to find a safe alternative for everyone, Mimi joined forces with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Courtney Mayszak to found De Lune. (TW: Su***de) Let’s talk about it. 53% of su***de happens within the 8 days surrounding menstruation. With low moods, irritability, fatigue and anxiety running rampant, it’s not hard to see why. While we know that 1) mood and menstruation are correlated and 2) suicidal ideation and planning is more prevalent during the luteal phase, researchers haven’t yet established why exactly that is.
