No Snowfall Forecast for Plains till 02 February: Light snow/rain is expected on tomorrow at some parts of J&K

• Predominantly dry to cloudy conditions expected across J&K till 02 February.

• A Weak Western Disturbance likely tomorrow, triggering light rain/snow over higher reaches and isolated parts of South Kashmir by evening/night.
• Plains to largely remain dry during this phase due to very weak weather system, however south Kashmir plains can see light snow/rain on tomorrow evening/night (55% chances), other plains probability stands at 35%.

• 02 February: Mostly dry weather to prevail.

• Then A fresh Western Disturbance(light to moderate intensity)may approach late 02 Feb night, with chances of rain/snow over plains and higher reaches on 03 February.

• 04–10 February: No significant Weather activity indicated; extended dry spell likely.

Smell of winter is almost over 😔, postive night temperatures is expected over Srinagar city and other few plains during next one week.

Heavy Snowfall between tomorrow night and 27 January over Kashmir Valley

Since morning the intensity is slightly increased and I expected another Good snow spell is expected across the Kashmir Valley, the peak activity is expected on 27 January.

Snowfall is also possible over most plains of Kashmir Valley.

Weather Update

During next 48hrs , a weak western disturbance is expected over higher reaches of North, Central and Eastern part of Kashmir to bring light snow on these higher reaches during next 48hrs .

Jammu and Kashmir plains may witness mostly cloudy sky with very light rain over North Kashmir.

Overall nothing significant is expected till 21 January.

Heavy to very heavy snowfall possible in plains of Kashmir on 22 & 23 January

As of now, seasons first snowfall is possible across the most plains of Kashmir from night of 22 January. On 23 January moderate to heavy snowfall is expected over North and central Kashmir with heavy to very heavy snow is possible over middle and plains of South kashmir between 22-24 January morning.

Snowfall accumulation ranges from 8 inches to 2 feet in south kashmir plains.

Central and north kashmir plains will also receive Good snow spell the accumulation touches 6 inches to 1 feet.

Note : this situation is based on today analysis, the accumulation can vary from area to area in coming days but the major snowfall is expected.

Snowfall likely in higher reaches of north and central Kashmir today

▪️Seasons first Strong Western disturbance is expected from 22-26 January.

▪️As per current indications peak activity is expected on 22,23,24,& 25 January.

▪️After this system, another WD is possible around 27 January.

Cold weather in Jammu

A maximum temperature around 7.4°C was recorded in Jammu today

while Srinagar city recorded a maximum temperature of 13.3°C.
