Farm Owner Fined R250,000 For Employing Illegal Foreigners After 23 Undocumented Foreign Nationals Arrested in Their Farm in North West

A farm owner was issued with a R250,000 admission of guilt fine after police arrested 23 suspected undocumented foreign nationals during an intelligence-driven operation in the Vorstershoop policing area in the North West. The South African Police Service commended officers involved in the operation, which also uncovered the alleged employment of undocumented foreign nationals.

Police intercepted a white Isuzu truck and a white Toyota Land Cruiser single cab on the R379 gravel road during the operation. Several occupants fled into nearby farms, while the driver and the farm owner were stopped. Officers requested the farmer to contact the individuals, who later returned voluntarily for verification.

Further checks conducted with the Department of Home Affairs in Ganyesa confirmed that the documentation of the 23 individuals had either expired or was invalid. The suspects, aged between 21 and 49, were arrested, while the farm owner received an admission of guilt fine of R250,000 for allegedly employing undocumented foreign nationals.

The 23 suspects are expected to appear before the Ganyesa Magistrate's Court on Monday. Police said the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation in the Vorstershoop policing area and praised all members who participated in the successful operation.
