The Zambia Police Service has underscored the need for strengthened collaboration with Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) to entrench transparency, accountability, and integrity in the service delivery.
Inspector General of Police, Mr. Graphel Musamba said enhanced partnership between the two institutions is vital in improving service delivery and boosting public confidence in the Police.
Mr. Musamba said this when a delegation from TIZ led by its Policy and Research Manager, Mr. Bright Chizonde paid a courtesy call on him at Police Service Headquarters in Lusaka today.
He commended the Zambia Police Integrity Committee for its role in promoting professionalism and ethical conduct within the Service, noting that its collaboration with TIZ has yielded positive results.
"Our core mandate is service delivery, and we can not deliver effectively without transparency and accountability. The Integrity Committee has been key in this regard, and through our work with partners like TIZ, we are strengthening integrity within the Service to ensure our services reach the people in a fair and professional manner," Mr. Musamba said.
In response, Mr. Chizonde said TIZ has, over the years, worked closely with the Zambia Police Service, including providing support to the Integrity Committee and implementing various capacity building programmes aimed at promoting integrity and good governance.
"Transparency should not always be measured. It is absolute. Where there is a lack of integrity, corruption happens. Our joint work with the Zambia Police Integrity Committee is a clear example of how collaboration can strengthen accountability and foster a corruption-free society," Mr. Chizonde said.
The meeting focused on deepening collaboration in capacity building, public awareness, and advocacy against corruption.
