We’re still smiling from our time in Kalubwe! From 1st to 2nd May, our team had the privilege of serving this beautiful rural community alongside amazing partners like Change Makers , Harmony for Humanity foundation, and Mental Wellness HUB

What we did:
- Health services: HIV testing, STI screening & BP checks
- Skills & dignity:Making reusable pads with local women and girls
- Sensitization sessions: Mental health awareness, menstrual health & hygiene, Sexual & Reproductive Health information, and child protection

Why it mattered:
Serving in a remote, rural setup reminded us why this work is so important. The warmth, openness, and resilience of the Kalubwe community made this experience unforgettable. Every conversation, every test, every pad made was a step toward healthier, informed, and empowered lives.

Huge thanks to our partner NGOs, volunteers, and the Kalubwe community for welcoming us. This is partnership in action.

We’re already thinking about what’s next for Kalubwe — because real impact doesn’t end when we leave.

On 1st and 2nd May 2026, we conducted a community outreach in rural Kalubwe in partnership with Change Makers and other NGOs.

We provided free HIV testing, STI screening, and BP checks. We also taught some girls on making reusable pads and ran sensitization sessions on mental health, menstrual hygiene, SRH, and child protection.

The Kalubwe community welcomed us warmly and participated actively. The two-day outreach showed the value of bringing integrated health and education services to remote areas.

Exposed to HIV? Time matters ⏰

PEP is emergency HIV medicine. You have 72 hours to start it after possible exposure.

Let’s talk about PEP 🚨💊

PEP = Post-Exposure Prophylaxis. It’s emergency medicine that can stop HIV _after_ you’ve been exposed.

Key facts:
1. You must start PEP within 72 hours of possible exposure — the sooner, the better
2. You take it every day for 28 days
3. It’s for emergencies: condom breaks, sexual assault, needle stick injury, or sharing injecting equipment
4. You’ll need an HIV test first, and follow-ups with a healthcare provider

PEP is not a substitute for other prevention like PrEP or condoms. But it’s a second chance when things go wrong.

If you think you’ve been exposed to HIV, don’t wait. Go to your nearest clinic or hospital *right now* and ask about PEP.
