How hormones affect longevity

For us at Medi-Gyn, Longevity means living better.

Here are where hormones play a crucial role - they regulate nearly every system that determines how we age.

- Brain health - 30% decrease in ATP energy
- Heart health - 30% increase in risk of cardiovascular
- Bone strength - 1-3% decrease in bone mass density
- Muscle mass - 30% loss of muscle mass in perimenopause
- Metabolism
- Sleep, Mood & Energy

When hormones begin to change in perimenopause and menopause, all body’s systems change too.

That’s why hormone health isn’t simply about managing symptoms—it’s about protecting your health-span: the years you live feeling strong, independent and full of vitality.

Because longevity is about adding life to your years!

You Think Estrogen is just one hormone?

Most women think Estrogen is just one hormone.

In reality, your body produces 4 different Estrogens and 3 of them are the most important ones. Each has its own important role throughout a woman’s life.

1. Estradiol (E2) – the most potent Estrogen during the reproductive years - supports the brain, bones, heart, metabolism, reproductive health and health-span.

2. Estriol (E3) – 80 times weaker than Estradi, Estriol produces in large amounts during pregnancy and widely used in local vaginal therapies to help relieve dryness, discomfort, irritability, painful intimacy.

3. Estrone (E1) – becomes the predominant Estrogen after menopause and is produced mainly in body fat.

“No one size fits all” - we must use the right type, the right dose, and the right route of administration through a personalised approach to your symptoms, health goals, and medical history.

How many Estrogens did you know before watching this reel? Tell us in the comments. 💬

Why Metabolism Matters More After 40

Metabolism is how your body creates, stores and uses energy

It influences every organ and system—from your brain and cognition to your heart, muscles and hormones.
During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal changes can significantly affect your metabolism. That’s why you may notice:

👉 Weight gain despite eating the same way
👉 Constant fatigue
👉 Loss of muscle
👉 Increased abdominal fat
👉 Feeling like what used to work no longer does

The answer is not that simply - “eating less and moving more.”
We must understand the metabolic and hormonal changes happening beneath the surface.

At Medi-Gyn, we look beyond symptoms. Our Healthy Ageing Consultation takes a whole-person approach, helping you navigate hormonal and metabolic changes so you can feel stronger, healthier and more like yourself.

The biggest threats of unhealthy ageing are often the ones you don’t see coming.

Not wrinkles. Not grey hair. And not your genetics either !

The most important red flags begin quietly, years before a diagnosis:

↓ Loss of muscle
↑ Insulin resistance
↑ Chronic inflammation
↓ Poor sleep quality
↑ Chronic stress load
↓ Metabolic resilience

And you are after 40, and “doing nothing” - it is NOT neutral.

- Muscle can decline. Metabolic health can shift. Recovery can become harder.
- Hormonal changes can alter how the body responds to stress, sleep, nutrition and exercise

Healthy ageing is about protecting your strength, metabolism, bones, brain and independence for the decades ahead

Because what you don’t protect, you gradually lose.

As Estrogen declines during perimenopause and menopause, many women notice their skin becoming thinner, more dry, less elastic, and more prone to fine lines. These changes aren’t simply “getting older”—they’re also influenced by changing hormone levels.

Our Medi-Gyn Estrogen Face Day & Night Creams are formulated with

- Bioidentical Bi:Est - Estriol / Estradiol
[and other skin friendly ingredients - see shop online]

Estriol - a gentle form of Estrogen - supports skin hydration, elasticity, collagen production, and overall skin quality during the menopausal transition.

At Medi-Gyn, we don’t believe skincare should only cover the signs of ageing—we believe in understanding why those changes happen.

Healthy skin starts with healthy hormones inside and out.

Are you feeling constantly tired — even after a full night’s sleep? It may be more than “just getting older.”

During perimenopause, metabolic changes can affect your

- energy, resilience, and how you feel day to day

Persistent fatigue is a signal worth understanding — not simply accepting as a part of ageing. After all metabolism = energy !

The biggest myth about metabolism?

That metabolism inevitably declines with age.

Age alone is not the answer here.

Factors such as
- hormones, muscle mass, physical activity, nutrition, sleep, stress, and - particularly for women - hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause all play a significant role in how efficiently your body produces and uses energy.

The encouraging news? Many of these factors are modifiable.

Understanding what’s driving your metabolic health is the first step towards improving your energy, supporting a healthy weight, and promoting healthy ageing.

Ageing is inevitable. A dramatic metabolic decline doesn’t have to be the case.
