đŸ©ž What to Expect When You’re Expecting

SPOTTING IN EARLY PEGNANCY

You notice a bit of blood. Your heart skips a beat.
But here’s the truth: spotting in the first trimester is common—and often not a cause for alarm.

Here’s why it might happen:
đŸ”č Implantation bleeding—when the pregnancy settles into the uterus
đŸ”č Hormone changes—especially around the cervix
đŸ”č After a scan or intercourse—because the area has more blood flow now
đŸ”č Brown spotting? That’s usually old blood, not fresh bleeding

💡 So when should you worry?
If it’s just a few drops, no pain, and goes away quickly—it’s usually okay.
But if it’s heavy, keeps coming, or comes with cramps—please check in with your doctor.
Pregnancy can be full of surprises. Let’s talk about them openly, without fear or shame.

SIBO — The Hidden Cause Behind Your Bloating? 🌿

Do you often feel bloated, gassy, or uncomfortable after meals — even when you eat healthy?
It might not just be “indigestion.” It could be SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).

In SIBO, bacteria that normally live in the large intestine move into the small intestine, where they ferment food prematurely — leading to:
💹 Excess gas
😣 Abdominal pain and bloating
🍞 Food intolerances

Did you know?
SIBO tends to affect women more than men. Hormonal fluctuations, slower gut motility, and conditions like thyroid disorders, PCOS, and IBS all increase the risk.

👉 If you’ve been struggling with chronic bloating or “IBS-like” symptoms, don’t ignore them — get yourself evaluated for SIBO.
Early diagnosis can make all the difference.

đŸ€± What to Expect When You’re Expecting
“Is My Baby Moving Enough?”
You feel a flutter.
Then a kick.
Then
 nothing for hours.
And suddenly, you’re Googling at 2 a.m., wondering if something’s wrong.
Let’s pause. Let’s breathe. Let’s talk about fetal movement—without panic, without guesswork.
💡 When does movement begin?
Most people feel the first flutters between 18–22 weeks—especially in first pregnancies. It might feel like bubbles, butterflies, or gentle taps.
💡 Is it normal for movement to be irregular?
Yes—especially early on. Babies sleep in cycles, and their movements vary day to day. What matters most is your baby’s unique rhythm, not a textbook number.
💡 When should I be concerned?
In the third trimester, movements should become more consistent. If you notice a sudden drop in activity, or if something just feels “off,” trust your instincts and reach out to your OB-GYN.
💡 Can I track movement?
Absolutely. Many providers recommend kick counts later in pregnancy—like noting 10 movements within 2 hours. But early on, it’s more about noticing patterns than counting kicks.
Pregnancy is full of quiet questions.
Let’s answer them with clarity, not fear.
Let’s normalize the waiting, the wondering, and the what-ifs.

Thinking of delaying your period? Here’s what to prep before your gynaecologist visit.

- 📅 Track your last 3 cycles
- đŸ©ž Note any irregularities, pain, or spotting
- 💊 List current meds and supplements
- ❓ Be ready to discuss why you want to postpone (travel, rituals, exams)

“Save this before your next consult—it helps your doctor help you.”

⚠ Self-medicating to delay your period can backfire.
Think: breakthrough bleeding, hormonal imbalance, or masking PCOS/endometriosis.

HPV Vaccination Isn’t Just for Teens—It’s a Missed Opportunity for Adult Women
Let’s be clear: cervical cancer is preventable. Yet thousands of women delay or dismiss the HPV vaccine, believing it’s “too late” or “not relevant.” That misconception is costing lives.
The HPV vaccine protects against the strains most likely to cause cervical, vaginal, vulvar, and a**l cancers. It’s recommended up to age 26—and in some cases, even beyond. For women who missed it in adolescence, adult vaccination is still a powerful step toward long-term reproductive health.
In my clinic, I’ve seen how early vaccination reduces abnormal Pap results, prevents invasive procedures, and offers peace of mind. But I’ve also seen how stigma, silence, and outdated beliefs keep women from accessing this protection.
It’s time to change the narrative.
HPV vaccination should be part of routine gynecologic care—just like breast exams and Pap smears. It should be discussed in HR wellness programs, school health policies, and every OB-GYN consult. Because prevention isn’t just clinical—it’s cultural.
If you’re a woman under 26, or a healthcare leader shaping policy, this is your cue: protect your future. Normalize the conversation. Advocate for access.

đŸ©ș From adolescent health to safe pregnancies, postpartum care to menopause support—women deserve care that honors every phase of life with dignity and insight.
Let’s champion a healthcare system that listens, supports, and uplifts women. Because when women thrive, society does too.
