is a powerful new Broadway production that tells the story of an Afghan translator and a forbidden love during wartime — a moving tribute to resilience, sacrifice, and the untold stories of Afghanistan. 🇦🇫🎭

As Afghan women, it’s an honor for both me and the incredibly talented to contribute to this show. Sabrina not only styled the production but designed and created many of the breathtaking costumes seen on stage. Her artistry and cultural vision are unmatched. ✨

We’re also proud to have jewelry and select garments from my brand, , woven into the visual storytelling of the show.

Come witness this unforgettable story — rich with Afghan culture, history, and heart — live on Broadway.

The Afghanistan you see today is not the Afghanistan and experience my parents and grandparents had. My great aunt Sitara Achakzai was a member of the regional parliament in Kandahar. Women had positions of power, women were educated. Here is a picture of my beautiful aunt in traditional Afghan clothes and jewelry. ♥️

AchikzaiJewels was started for my love of our watan. Achikzai is the pashtun tribe my father is from. The history, the folk-lore of what each pashtun tribe characteristics are known for are some of the small reasons I am proud to be Afghan.
The bigger reason of why I am so proud to be from the Achikzai tribe though is due to my great aunt Sitara Achikzai. She was my grandfathers younger sister and a light in our family, the happiest, genuine, purest human alive. She dedicated her life to the Afghan people. She was a leading Afghan women's rights activist and a member of the regional parliament in Kandahar.
In April of 2009, my great Aunt was brutally assassinated by the Taliban. They didn’t like how much traction and popularity she was receiving. Their ideals were not aligned with her message. It was a great loss for Afghanistan and for the world, along with her own family in Afghanistan, Germany, Canada and the US.
As I am being interviewed by @voapashto I can not help but think of how life comes full circle. I remember the day my father was listening to @voapashto and found out through the news his beloved Aunt has passed.
I am grateful for the opportunity @voapashto gave me for the interview. Playing a small part to donate through my jewels, to honor my lineage, my aunt and my beloved Afghanistan was healing on such a dark anniversary of my homeland.
Thank you for @humanfirstcoalition for giving an opportunity to heal for Afghan refugees, Afghan-Americans and Afghan Ally’s to support, donate and be educated on the topic through fundraising, music, art and food. It was truly an honor.. 20/06/2023
