After 30 in the nail industry, my body is reminding me that health has to come first. Recently, I’ve been dealing with sciatic nerve pain, and it hasn’t been easy. Instead of keeping it to myself, I want to share my experience with others who work in this industry that we love so much.
In the beauty industry, some of us are known for our dedication, consistency, and always showing up for our clients. But sometimes, in the process of taking care of everyone else, we forget to take care of ourselves.
So this is my gentle reminder to everyone in this field listen to your body Take breaks throughout your day when you need them. Stretch, Rest.
Make time for yourself before your body forces you to slow down.
For the next six months I’ll be in therapy, working on healing, changing some habits, and creating a healthier balance so I can continue doing the work that I love.
My clients mean so much to me, and I’m incredibly grateful for their continued support and understanding. But in this season, I’m learning that prioritizing my health allows me to give the best version of myself to the people I serve.
It’s one day at a time, and although it’s painful, I’m managing and staying positive.
To everyone in the beauty industry:
Your passion is important, but your health is priceless. Take care of yourself too.
