Adult acne is a large part of my patient population.
Sadly we know acne is chronic and that although 93.3% of 16-18 year old Australians will suffer with acne, over 50% of people in their 20s, 40% of those in their 30s and almost 30% of Australians in their 40s will also suffer.
In my practice I seen acne in all genders and at all ages and the treatment differs very much according to the individual and their stage life. Individuals with a uterus wanting to conceive is one of my most tricky (and common) populations.
Our approach to acne at Skindepth is multidisciplinary and usually involves almost our entire team to assist those on their acne journey.

Yesterday, after a 14-year global process involving 22,000 stakeholders and a Lancet publication, polycystic o***y syndrome officially became Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — PMOS.
And as a dermatologist, I think this matters more than most people realise.
The old name was doing real harm.
It anchored an enormously complex hormonal condition to “cysts” and “ovaries” — and in doing so, it kept patients looping through gynaecology when their most visible and distressing symptoms were showing up in my consult room: acne, hirsutism, alopecia, acanthosis nigricans.
Skin doesn’t lie.
It was never a cyst problem.
It was always an androgen and metabolic problem.
