Downtime: expect some heat, a bit of swelling and a flush of redness for a short while afterwards. How long it lasts varies from person to person. I tend to swell a bit more!

My plan for the next few days:
🧊 Cool compress wrapped in a clean cloth, never ice directly on the skin
🤍 Zinc based sunscreen, every day
🚫 No actives (retinol, acids, scrubs) until my skin has settled
🌿 Gentle cleanser and a simple moisturiser only

This is my aftercare. Yours will depend on your skin and your clinician’s advice. Results vary, and most people need more than one session.

The peel that does not peel. Here is what PRX Plus actually is.

PRX Plus is a treatment we massage into your skin in the clinic. No needles. No injections. No flaking or hiding indoors for a week afterwards.

Most peels work by irritating the top layer of your skin so it sheds, which is why you go red and flaky. PRX Plus is built to do the opposite. It carries its active ingredients past the surface to stimulate the deeper layer, while leaving the outer barrier intact.

Think of your skin like a lawn. A traditional peel scrapes off the dry top layer. This is more like watering the roots and letting the lawn thicken up from underneath.

The two main ingredients are a gentler salt form of TCA, a well known peel acid, and homocysteic acid, which is the newer part of the formula. It may help with brightness, texture, uneven tone and the look of pores. It is usually done as a short course, not a once off

PRX Plus is new. Almost all the research is on the older version, PRX T33. There is one small pilot study on PRX Plus so far, and it was done alongside microneedling, so we cannot yet say what PRX Plus does on its own. Early promise, not proof. I would rather tell you that upfront.

It is not right for everyone. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a skin infection or eczema flare, or have recently been on isotretinoin, we need to talk it through first.
