Before you compare your face to someone else’s photo online, remember you are also comparing yourself to lighting, angles, posing and possibly editing.
The same applies when choosing a practitioner from before & afters, or bringing reference photos to a consultation.
A photograph doesn’t always tell you what created what you’re seeing...

A day at The Alfred refreshing the practical skills required to recognise and respond to complications and medical emergencies in aesthetic practice.
Because continuing education isn’t only about learning new treatments, it’s also about keeping the knowledge and practical skills required in an emergency, current.

A prominent nasolabial fold doesn’t automatically make the fold itself the target.
Changes in cheek support, bone, fat distribution, skin laxity and muscular movement can all contribute to what we see in this area.
What you see at the surface doesn’t always tell you what’s contributing underneath, and that’s what I’m here to assess.

Part of my responsibility as your Registered Nurse is recognising when your initial request doesn't align with what I'm seeing during assessment.
Sometimes that means recommending a different approach, advising against further treatment or referring you elsewhere.
At Clinic Alexandra, you're seeking our clinical judgement, not simply the treatment you've requested. And as these cases demonstrate, the two don't always align.

Part of assessing your lips before treatment is understanding what’s already part of your natural anatomy, and making you aware of anatomical features like a prominent white roll before we begin.
Had you heard of the white roll before?

Anatomy becomes a lot more interesting when you see how differently it presents from patient to patient.
These are just some of the anatomical variations I’ve come across in my own consult room lately, and highlights the importance of individual assessment.
These differences are what determine my clinical thinking.
