Halfway through this trip and it’s very hard to pick favourites! 🌍

Soaking up the view in Monaco, working through a fruit platter, and making friends with every dog that’ll let me (there were many) 🐶

Then celebrated at my partner’s friends’ wedding in Germany. Such a gorgeous day to be part of! 🧡

And ate some of the best Tunisian food of my life in Marseille. I’m still thinking about it 😍

Just landed in Lake Como for round two of the trip, and I’d love some help! If you’ve got a favourite restaurant here, please let me know ☺️

I’m noticing that the language around food and bodies is starting to shift again, and not for the better. CaL0r!e c0uNt!nG is creeping back in.

Here’s the thing. When we’re fixated on the calories of what we’re eating, we miss out on so much.

The chance to actually practice mindful eating. To listen to what our bodies are telling us. To create memories with the people we love over a meal. To try something new and delicious just because we want to!!!

And honestly, calorie counting was never that helpful a practice to begin with. The numbers are rarely accurate, and how a food actually breaks down and gets used in your body comes down to something far more complex called the food matrix, not a figure on a label.

So instead of counting calories, this year I’m counting cards by the pool, Aperol overlooking the riviera, hikes up stone paths, and grazing boards with my mates 🧀

What are you counting this year? ☺️

Before I was a dietitian, I was diagnosed with IBS. The advice I got from my gastroenterologist at the time was to go gluten-free.

No mention of seeing a dietitian 😳

So I did it. And it didn’t help, because gluten was never the root issue.

It wasn’t until I looked at the basics, like eating regularly and getting enough fibre, that things actually started to shift.

Gut health isn’t always about removing things. Sometimes it’s the fundamentals that get missed.

If this sounds familiar, book a consult and let’s find what’s actually driving your symptoms.

GLP-1 is actually a gut hormone, your body already makes. These medications just turn the volume up, at a dose your gut would never make on its own.

That’s exactly why appetite and digestion change so much, and why undereating on one is such a common, under-discussed risk.

Full breakdown in today’s post ➡️ What I see in clinic, why protein and gut health need to be the priority, and what’s actually at stake long-term (bone health, muscle, your relationship with food) IF nutrition isn’t part of the plan!!

Send this to someone you know who’s on one. It’s the conversation I wish more people were having before appetite disappears completely 🙏🏼

I reckon, this is kinda chic (she says, eating her bread) 😉🍞

A few reasons to stick around (or not) 🤭

I’m a Brisbane dietitian who works with women navigating gut health, IBS, bloating, and everything that shifts through perimenopause and menopause. If you’ve ever felt like nutrition advice online is either too extreme or just doesn’t apply to you, that’s the gap I try to fill.

My approach is evidence-based and non-restrictive. I’m never going to tell you to cut out an entire food group for fun, life’s too short, and it’s rarely the answer anyway.

If any of that sounds like your kind of support, I’d love to have you in the clinic, online or in person 🧡

Unpopular opinion 🚨

Some of what you’ve been taught to worry about (when it comes to food) probably isn’t worth your brain space 🌶️

Disagree with any?

Let me know, and I’ll defend every single one 😉
