One face. Different skin. Different depths.

Skin needling isn’t a one-depth-fits-all treatment.

The thickness and structure of the skin varies across different areas of the face. Delicate regions, such as around the eyes, require a different approach to areas with comparatively thicker tissue, such as the cheeks or lower face.

That’s why treatment depth may be adjusted throughout your appointment.

Your dermal therapist considers the treatment area, skin thickness, individual skin characteristics, treatment goals and clinical response when determining an appropriate approach.

The aim isn’t to use the deepest setting possible. It’s to treat appropriately for the skin in front of us.

Appropriate settings vary between individuals and should be determined by a suitably trained practitioner following assessment.

Save this for your next skin needling appointment and follow CIC for more evidence-led skin education.

All treatments carry risks and may not be suitable for everyone. Individual assessment is required before treatment.

Winter might be almost over, but UV protection should never be seasonal.

One of the biggest misconceptions about sun exposure is that cooler weather means your skin is safe from UV. In reality, temperature and UV radiation are not the same thing — and in Brisbane, UV levels can still reach damaging levels throughout the cooler months.

While sunburn is an obvious sign of UV exposure, cumulative exposure can also contribute to pigmentation, uneven skin tone, changes in texture and visible signs of premature skin ageing over time.

And with spring just around the corner, now is the time to make sure daily sun protection is firmly back in your routine.

If you’re investing in your skin through professional treatments and quality skincare, protecting it from UV is an important part of supporting those efforts.

Healthy skin isn’t only about what you treat. It’s also about what you protect.

Save this as your reminder that SPF isn’t just for summer, and follow CIC for more evidence-led skin education.

Cancer Council recommends sun protection when the UV Index is 3 or above.

Some of the most important decisions we make in cosmetic medicine are about what not to do.

Not treating simply because there’s an appointment.
Not focusing on one area without considering the face as a whole.

Not assuming more treatment means a better outcome.
And not allowing trends to dictate what’s appropriate for an individual face.

A good consultation should involve assessment, clinical judgement and an honest conversation about your goals — including whether treatment is appropriate at all.

Because your anatomy isn’t a trend, and your treatment plan shouldn’t be either.

Save this as a reminder before your next consultation and follow CIC for more insights from our clinical team.

The way you think about aesthetic treatments matters just as much as what you book.

At CIC, we believe good aesthetic care isn’t about chasing trends, treating everything at once or assuming more is always better.

It’s about understanding your skin, setting realistic expectations and making considered decisions over time.

Sometimes that means treatment. Sometimes it means focusing on skin health. And sometimes, the right recommendation is to do nothing yet.

Our approach starts with assessment, education and an individualised plan — because your face isn’t a trend, and your treatment plan shouldn’t be either.

14 days until spring. It’s time to bring your skin out of winter.

After months of cooler weather, indoor heating and dry conditions, your skin may be feeling dehydrated, dull or simply in need of some extra attention.

Introducing our range of Synergie Professional Facials, performed by CIC Dermal Therapist Tarni.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all facial, each treatment is customised to what your skin needs on the day — with a focus on supporting skin health, structure and your longer-term treatment goals.

They’re also the perfect complement to your RN consultations at CIC. While our nursing team can assess and plan your broader aesthetic journey, Tarni can work alongside that plan to support the quality and health of your skin.

Think of it as treating the skin as part of the bigger picture.

With spring just two weeks away, now is the perfect time to invest in your skin after the cold, dry winter months.

Ready for your spring skin reset?

After more than 25 years in cosmetic medicine, there are a few things Dr Ingrid Tall would tell the doctor she was at the beginning of her career.

Not about a particular technique or treatment — but about the lessons that only come from years of assessing faces, treating patients and watching trends come and go.

In Episode 4 of Face Value, Dr Tall shares three things she would tell her younger self as a cosmetic doctor.
Because experience doesn’t just change how you treat. It changes how you see the face, how you approach a consultation, and sometimes, when you decide that less is more.

Spring is here — and for many of us, our skin is still showing the effects of summer.

Pigmentation, uneven tone, changes in texture, congestion and dullness can become more noticeable over time. But the right approach isn’t simply choosing a treatment from a menu.

For this client, Tarni assessed the skin and customised a Jessner Peel based on her individual concerns and how her skin responded during treatment.

The images show her skin before treatment and one day later — still within the recovery process, rather than a final result.

After more than two decades of treating Brisbane skin, one thing remains the same: the best time to start looking after your skin is when you notice it changing.

Not sure what your skin needs?

Tarni is currently offering complimentary skin analysis appointments at Cosmetic Image Clinics.

Will treating TMJ make jowling more noticeable?

It’s a question we hear regularly — and the answer comes down to more than the jaw alone.

When people refer to treating “TMJ”, they’re often talking about the masseter: a large chewing muscle that also contributes to the shape and volume of the lower face.

Changes in masseter bulk can change the support and proportions of the lower face. If there is already skin laxity, reduced elasticity or changes in facial volume and structure, existing jowling may become more noticeable.

This is why assessment matters.

Rather than looking at one muscle in isolation, our clinical team considers masseter size, skin quality, existing laxity, facial volume and jawline structure — at rest and in movement.

The question isn’t simply what can be treated. It’s how a change in one area could affect the face as a whole.
Save this for your next consultation and follow CIC for more evidence-informed facial anatomy education.
