Australian inspired botanical ritual oils and tools

27/09/2026

Moreton Mae has always been about bringing a little more ritual into the everyday something simple, tactile and grounded in nature, created with midlife women in mind.

And now we’re getting very close to sharing it with you.

A new midlife ritual is coming.

WOMEN’S HEALTH WEEK 💜

It’s Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week, and this year’s theme is “Do it anyway.”

I have a bit of a soft spot for Jean Hailes.
When my body first started going slightly rogue and I found myself thinking, “What on earth is happening to me?” I did what most of us do…

I Googled. 😂

When I started reading about perimenopause, Jean Hailes was one of the first places I found and trusted to help me understand what was actually going on.

Suddenly there were explanations for things I hadn’t even realised could be connected to menopause.

And it made me wonder why didn’t we know more about this before we got here?

Women have historically been underrepresented in health and medical research, so it’s encouraging to see women’s health including menopause and midlife health finally receiving much more attention in Australia.

Because we need the research.
We need the conversations.
And we definitely need better information than “well, you’re getting older.” 😏

But there’s another part of Women’s Health Week that really fits with what Moreton Mae is about.

Making some time for ourselves.

Because somehow there’s always time to do something for someone else… yet finding ten minutes for ourselves can feel ridiculously difficult.

Take the walk.
Book the appointment you’ve been putting off.
Ask the awkward question.
Have the coffee.
Rest. Move.
Put the phone down for ten minutes.

Or put a few drops of something lovely on your skin and enjoy doing absolutely nothing else for a moment. 😉

My own experience of midlife including skin that suddenly decided it wasn’t going to behave the way it had for the previous 30-something years became part of the reason Moreton Mae exists.

Not to turn back the clock.
Not to make us look 30 again.
Just to take care of ourselves and the skin we’re in now.

So this week, I’m very happy to support Women’s Health Week and its 2026 message:

Do it anyway. 💜

Ritual, not rush.

A well-formulated facial oil should feel nourishing and beautifully silky on your skin, without feeling heavy or greasy and sometimes a few drops really are enough.

INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT | BAKUCHIOL

Derived from the seeds of the babchi plant, native to India, bakuchiol has become known in skincare for helping improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture and firmness.

It’s often advertised as “NATURE'S RETINOL”.

An active botanical oil that can support smoother, firmer-looking skin, while still feeling gentle and nourishing.

As we move through midlife, our skin can become drier, more sensitive and less comfortable with products or routines we once used without a second thought.

I wanted Ritual Elixir to feel nourishing and gentle, while still including thoughtfully chosen ingredients that support how mature skin looks and feels.

Bakuchiol brings that little bit more to the blend, while still fitting beautifully within the nurturing ritual I wanted to create.

Some days your ritual may be slow and luxurious. Other days, it might be five minutes before bed.

Both count.

Consistency, not perfection.
Ritual, not rush. 💜

Are you sick of this too?

20 and 30-year-olds talking to us about anti-ageing, wrinkles and menopause.

Or “mature skin” advertising featuring perfectly styled women who haven't actually reached midlife yet.

Moreton Mae won't be doing that.

We're not here to pretend we're 25 or 30.

Moreton Mae was created for everyday women, in actual midlife, for a simple everyday ritual of self-care.

So that's who I want you to see here.

Real women.
Real midlife skin.
Lines, texture and all.

Because looking our age isn't something we need to fix.

We just want our skin to feel nourished, comfortable and cared for.

Real women. Real midlife skin.
Lines, texture and all.

INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT | MACADAMIA OIL

One of the things I wanted when creating Ritual Elixir was to include Australian ingredients where they genuinely made sense for the formula.

Macadamia was one of them.

Naturally rich in fatty acids, macadamia oil helps soften and smooth dry skin and leaves it feeling nourished and comfortable exactly the sort of feel I was looking for as my own skin became drier in midlife.

Macadamia oil is naturally rich in palmitoleic acid, a fatty acid that's also found in our skin's own sebum. And as we move through midlife, our skin can produce less of those natural oils, contributing to that drier, less comfortable feeling many of us suddenly notice.

For me, that made macadamia a bit of a no-brainer when creating an oil specifically with midlife skin in mind.

And something else I love?
Macadamias are native to Australia.

I didn't want ingredients chosen simply because they sounded impressive on a label.

I wanted each one to have a reason for being there.
Macadamia does.

Creating something from scratch means plenty of testing, tweaking and starting again.

And getting feedback from everyone I can along the way — thank you 💋

Different botanical blends. Different textures. Different colours. Different feel on the skin.

Some trials were close. Others weren't quite it.

And somewhere along the way, our Ritual Elixir started to become the beautiful botanical oil I'd imagined.

Getting very close now. Our first small production run has begun 💜

WHY DID I START WITH A FACIAL OIL?

Because Moreton Mae wasn't created for the skin I had at 25. I'm now 50.

It came from what I started noticing in my own skin in midlife.

Drier. Itchy. Less comfortable. Just… different.

I wanted something simple that would leave my skin feeling soft and nourished, but I also wanted those few minutes of looking after myself to feel good.

Plant oils can help soften and smooth dry skin, leaving it feeling more comfortable and nourished. 🌿

But for me, it became about more than the oil...

A few drops. A few quiet minutes. A reason to slow down and actually enjoy looking after the skin I'm in now.

That little idea eventually became Moreton Mae Ritual Elixir. 💜

Ritual, not rush.
