I saw this beauty advertising wording in a prominent window display yesterday and it literally stopped me in my tracks. And I’m still thinking about it.
“The more you know, the slower it goes.”
Slower what? Ageing?
Why are we still framing ‘ageing’ - getting older as something to fear, prevent or somehow apologise for? 🎂
I absolutely believe in looking after your skin. I love skincare. Give me products that hydrate, protect from the sun, improve pigmentation and support healthy skin. Tell me how to make my skin look and feel its best.
But ‘ageing’ isn’t a skin condition.
It is a completely normal part of being alive. 🎉
I don’t want to be sold the idea that my face is a problem that needs fixing. I want to be encouraged to have healthy, beautiful skin at my age.
We can do better in our industry to celebrate skincare without making women afraid of getting older?
I’d love to see beauty brands change the conversation to “How can we help your skin look and feel its best.”
I’d genuinely love to know what other women think.

(Side note: Overall health is much deeper than skin aesthetics. We need more narrative in general about looking after our bodies. 🙏)
