Nearly 20 years since spending a Mothers day with Mum. She was kind gentle and patient and always quietly cheering you on from the sidelines. She was born a farm girl and grew up to be a registered Karitane nurse, she also ran a day care centre from our home. Caring for up to 20 children all by herself. The earliest children (Twins) came at 4.30am in the morning and left at 6pm at night. Sometimes the parents would pop the babies into bed along side Mum.
I often remember her hopping in the car in the middle of the night, when she came home she would have a screaming baby, this allowing the exhausted Mum to get some much needed quality sleep.
She was always there for the underdog, the Mum who was battling with no family support around, the Mum fleeing domestic violence, the Mum with the baby with the Hairlip and Cleft palate, the mum who's baby constantly screamed.
This was my Mum, caring for everyone around her right up until her horror departure she was given at 67 yrs of age. Her voice has now faded from my memory but never will I forget her💛
