This card is about balance, but not necessarily the way we think of balance. It does not mean equal amounts of everything all the time. It means remaining perfectly balanced, no matter what else is going on, which means Temperance is always in motion to adjust to changing environments and situations. Sometimes she needs to pour a little more out of one chalice, sometimes the other—it all depends on what is going on around her.

This card suggests that you watch your balance. Take the time to make sure your reactions, decisions, and words are appropriate for the situation at hand. You are advised to practice moderation and patience. This is no time for extreme behavior or melodramatic gestures.

Message: You have sat comfortably on the sidelines long enough – stand up; rise to the occasion and breathe life into your soul’s journey. It is time for you to do, be, have and experience all that your soul has been waiting for you to discover. Your new course of action may feel uncomfortable at first, but persevere and keep stepping forward. Signs and signals will appear along the way to guide you to the next destination. It is time to make a decision. Stop procrastinating; prepare yourself and begin your quest today. There was no more perfect knight than Galahad – Knight of the Round Table, son of Lancelot and the Grail maiden, Elaine of Carbonek.

The card of Galahad asks you to raise your vibrations and become more spiritually evolved – and involved. It may have been fine up until now to be on the sidelines, to dwell on the fringe of things of spiritual nature. You may have read countless books on how to be more spiritually evolved, but now it is time for your spiritual practice to be firmly lived. It’s a matter of what you ‘do’, not just what you ‘say’. Galahad asks you to accept the challenge and touch the Holy Grail – the cup of wisdom that stirs your soul. Be aware of signs around you that will provide answers for you. But first, be pure of heart. Be guided by your own intuition and inner wisdom.

To put your deeds into action, you must sit in the empty seat at Arthur’s Round Table, the Siege Perilous, reserved only for bravest knight, as Galahad did. This is your time to get out of your comfort zone and do something truly heroic for your highest spiritual growth. To be self-actualised is to drink the drops of wisdom, knowledge and inspiration, or awen, from the cauldron of Cerridwen and find the Holy Grail. You may need to take your sword and fight for this inner knowledge. But until you start your quest and take some risks along the way, you will not achieve enlightenment.

15. A BLESSING ON YOUR FAMILY

A blessing to bring to those who you are most closely connected with, to invoke the healing powers of relationship where love is the motivating force that binds each to the other.

When blood sings to blood, even across the miles, we hear its call. There are families who are estranged each from the other, for they gaze upon each other as strangers, unalike, unfathomable in their personal differences. Yet when we begin to unravel the mystery of family, we may find a place in our life where we begin to grow close again. May you see reflected in your eyes the light that shone in those that gazed down upon you as a child, a flame of courage that can be lit from within. Feel within you the unyielding strength of the family members who have travelled the world in search of safe harbour for you, their descendant. However, your family has formed itself – scattered across vast distances, with interests and people and careers that seem incompatible and incredible to have sprung from the same tree, may the roots of the family now become clear to you. May you discern the strong bonds, and may the closeness of the blood give you qualities to draw upon.
