It’s always better when treating cells together.

But sometimes we hyper focus on the melanocyte and forget that it works in conjunction with the cells and systems around it. To get a more impactful result, we need to look at the bigger picture.

I go deeper in tomorrow’s T-Zone Telegraph. If you’d like it to show up in your inbox, comment TELEGRAPH and add yourself to my email community xx

You can know skin inside out and still feel like your consultations are a bit of a hot mess. 😂

That doesn’t mean you’re not knowledgeable or capable.

It usually means no one ever gave you a proper structure to follow.

Without one, it’s easy to go off on tangents, jump into problem-solving too early or reach the end wondering whether you gathered enough information to confidently recommend what comes next.

I’ve completed thousands of skin consultations over my career, and I can promise you my first thousand were an excellent lesson in what not to do.

Eventually, I recognised that the strongest consultations followed the same four-step pattern.

That framework gave me direction, helped my clients understand their skin and made recommending products and treatments feel far more natural.

I’m teaching the full structure inside my FREE live masterclass:

If your skin consultations are feeling more like a jumbled up chat about skin, than a structured conversation with a clear guided outcome, this post is for you.

I’m teaching the beauty industry my consultation framework, to help skin therapists have a clear pathway to gather the right information to build a results driven treatment plan.

If you’d like to join me, write MASTERCLASS below and I’ll send you the details.

You can have the fanciest treatment menu, the most beautiful products and every shiny machine under the sun…

But if you’re targeting the wrong part of the skin, you’re going to struggle to create results.

Before reaching for a product or modality:
Where does this concern actually live?
Is it primarily epidermal?
Is it dermal?
Can the treatment I’m recommending genuinely influence that area?

Sometimes we’re bringing out the big guns when the epidermis simply needs intelligent support. Other times, we’re expecting a topical product to solve a concern sitting much deeper in the skin.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about understanding the target and choosing the right tool for the job. 🎯

This is how we stop following treatment formulas and start thinking like confident skin therapists.

I see your AI generated 80’s pictures and raise you to: “grab your sister, fellas and some shoulder pads and book a studio”

You wouldn’t believe me if I told you over half these outfits came from our own wardrobes. (I also still can’t understand why mum wouldn’t let me get a perm in 1989… the ‘Annie’ look is giving!!!)

THIS is what adult money is for and you can’t convince me there’s a better way to spend it!

No matter what you try, this skin still won’t respond??

You’ve chosen the perfect products
carefully planned their treatments
and talked them through their home care.

But their skin remains dry, inflamed, congested, slow to heal or generally unhappy.

Before assuming they need something stronger, I want you to ask:

Does this skin actually have the building blocks it needs to function properly?

Essential fatty acids play a HUGE role in healthy cell membranes, lipid production, wound healing, inflammation, hydration and the formation of a strong skin barrier.

If the cells don’t have what they need during their lifecycle, we can end up with a leaky roof… and repeatedly disrupting that already-struggling barrier certainly isn’t going to fix it.

Sometimes the smartest treatment decision isn’t to do more.

It’s to listen more closely, ask better questions and help the skin function properly first.

In tomorrow’s T-Zone Telegraph I’m diving deeper into the missing links that can foil even the best laid treatment plans.

Spring has officially entered the chat!

But what does that mean for you and your clients skin?

If you think swapping a heavy moisturiser for light is your job well done… it’s time we had a skin nerd chat!

Skin responds to its environment daily, hourly and sometimes within minutes (ever gone from a sauna into snow?)

Temperature, wind, humidity, can all influence how a skin behaves.

Spring? Well that’s a whole other bag of sneaky (where my histamine girlies at 🙋‍♀️)

Higher pollen counts whip histamine into a frenzy which means we’re starting down the barrel of itchy, inflamed reactive skin.

Ever noticed clients suddenly reacting to things they’ve used for years?
This is a piece of that puzzle.

The product hasn’t changed.
The environment around the skin, has!

This is why seasonal skincare should never be treated like a generic product swap or a convenient little sales opportunity.

It should be part of how we consult, investigate and plan.

I’m dropping this into inboxes of skin therapists, to help you develop your skills around consultation questions, topical adjustments, and treatment planning decisions that can help our clients skin thrive, all year round.

Comment ‘TELEGRAPH’ and I’ll drop the next steps in your DMs. Make sure you click the link and add your email address so you don’t miss this drop?

It’s landing 8am AEST Monday!

Throwback to the biggest industry party of 2026: The MochaBeauty / ABIA ABIA’s!!

Hannah was our shining finalist, representing Newcastle’s Skin Health Experts. No trophy, but we cheered like the clappers for all our friends and colleagues who were celebrating beautiful milestones!

And unlike Cinderella, we were home before midnight and any pumpkin shenanigans could ensue 😉😉

20+ years in the treatment room (& still going) helps me see blind spots very quickly.

Teaching you how to strengthen your weak points? That comes from a lifetime of having to fix my own so I know a few shortcuts.

If your beauty industry career isn’t where you expected…
If you feel like you’re always pushing s**t up a hill (it shouldn’t feel exhausting)…
If you’re doing all the things they said to do, but it doesn’t feel like it’s working…

You need a mentor. Someone who loves you enough to tell you when your fly is undone or there’s food in your teeth.

I volunteer as tribute.

Comment SQUAD if you’re ready.
