Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe and effective way to reduce the appearance of line and wrinkles - especially when frowning or squinting!

It is a relatively painless treatment, you will normally here me tell you a “sharp scratch” is coming! You will start to see results after the 4th day and after 14 days you will see the full effect of the treatment. I will always try book in a 2 week follow-up appointment to ensure you are happy with the movement (or lack their of) as everyone has a different desire for their result.

treatment of the lower face -

By injecting the “Depressor Anguli Oris’ AKA DAO’s with antiwrinkle, this stops the muscle from pulling the mouth downwards creating a subtle lift, leaving you looking more happier and relaxed.

Over time and strong use of these muscle group can lead to fine lines and wrinkle from mouth to chin and can result in a downturned mouth causing a sad or negative appearance.

Whilst so much focus is given to the upper face with anti-ageing treatments such as anti-wrinkle, it’s important to assess the face as a whole and give time and consideration to the lower face.

As we age the continuous use of the muscles of the lower face that create a “pulling-down” mechanisms can create the fine line and wrinkles of the marionette lines, jowls, mouth to chin lines, smokers/lipstick lines and ‘orange peel’ chin.

By injecting anti-wrinkle injections into the muscle to relax the pulling down action, this leads to the upward muscles being stronger and lifting.

Bruising will always be a risk with all injections and so there will be no guarantee. Sometimes bruising can last for a couple of days, or a couple of weeks depending on the treatment. It is important to discuss all of this during the consultation, especially if you have an important event coming up!

Some tips to reduce the likelihood of bruising;
Avoid alcohol 24 hours before and after treatment
Medications such as; ibuprofen, Fish-oil tablets, aspirin and blood thinning medications will increase the likelihood of bleeding and also bruising - please *do not* stop taking any medications prescribed by your doctor
Avoid vigorous activities, extensive sun or heat exposure (saunas) after your treatment
