Muscle Maintenance
"Keeping Active People Active""
Sunday is a day for rest.
No formal training.
Each other.
Experiencing adventure, food, fun.
I try to keep my why at the front of mind!!
I throw a giant dose of process trust in the mix.
Because in less than 6 weeks, I pull on the green and gold!!
Can you really forget how to do something you train most days a week?
Probably not.
But your fatigue, nutrition, rest, stress and hydration can all be factors.
And a dose of Influenza A will add another level.
That’s why my eyes remain tightly focused on the goal.
When I feel like my diary is full and every choice feels heavy with consequence, it is easy to freeze up or feel guilty no matter what I choose.
To help future me stay strong, healthy, and happy without burning out today I choose to enjoy the journey and have fun not as a distraction, but as an essential investment in my health and longevity.
Little Heather would be proud.
Future Heather will be relieved.

This journey has given me a life I never imagined.
When I look back, these are the truths that matter most.
🔸I am surrounded by people who share my mindset.
🔸I choose to visit the space outside my comfort zone!
🔸I have goals and accept constructive feedback.
🔸My future looks bright.
🔸I accept my body as it changes.
🔸I wear shorts.
🔸I eat nourishing food every day.
🔸I set clear boundaries.
🔸I invest in myself EVERY SINGLE DAY!
I’m currently training for BenchPress to compete in Fiji, wearing an Australian uniform. It feels hard, because it’s meant to. And the background chatter is questioning why but I choose to ignore the thoughts that don’t build a better me.

“It is better to have lived twenty-five days as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.”
I want to be sharper, stronger, quicker.
(I don’t want to be surrounded by dags.)
And so what a fun opportunity it was to train under the guidance of mitsunori chiba Steed Fitness 🇦🇺.
Not only did I learn lots, it was fun and calm.
The next stage is to implement these learnings and make them consistent.
It’s easy to do things well enough but to allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to really try to be better and better is such a rewarding practice.
Thank you mitsunori chiba for your guidance and humour. My cup is overflowing!!
If it’s hard, it’s probably meant to be.
If a female over 50 has muscles, it’s really not an accident! It took a lot of work.
She may not be ripped or shredded, she may simply be prioritising herself for the first time.
Be warned, there is more to come.
Support her, encourage her, you know she supports you.
Strength is so much more than preventing osteoporosis, it’s about taking your rightful place.
Wear the tshirt that reminds you why and train as prescribed- not easier, not harder because someone may know more than you.
You see, it’s 10 degrees. I have a book I want to finish. There is some work and cooking I also want to do.
I realise that trying to do the thing isn’t enough. I used to bumble around ‘doing my best - but was it?
Through learning to be better, I realise how planning better and prioritising the long term makes me thrive and there are positive ripples from this.
I’m not saying it’s easy, but it sure is rewarding!!

I’ve been helping keep active people active for about 20 years. For 3/4 of that I had my own business.
The environment is incredibly positive, Surrounded by people who achieve. Who work hard. People who have inspired me.
For a while, I lost myself and forgot to fill my cup.
I closed my business!
I found the best coach in Priscus and slowly began my strength journey and rebuild.
From the bottom up, brick by brick.
I did some study, joined a consumer advisory group, increased my training.
Then I started working with Jacob and Molly
At Universal Massage
( when I say with, we are like ships in the night and share the room)
I have the perfect balance now.
Wonderful clients. Training is a whole life of its own. I am strong, healthy, love my job and my family. I have two very special granddaughters.
We all try to encourage each other.
I feel very lucky.
I feel ready for the next stage, the next chapter and the next challenges.
