Your skin is constantly dealing with oxidative stress.
UV radiation, pollution and normal cellular metabolism can generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) unstable molecules that can react with proteins, lipids and DNA within the skin.
Why are they so reactive?
Some contain an unpaired electron, which makes them more likely to react with surrounding molecules in an attempt to become stable.
That reaction can contribute to:
→ collagen breakdown
→ changes in elastin
→ lipid damage within cell membranes
→ inflammation
→ pigmentation changes
→ accelerated signs of photoageing
This is where antioxidants come in.
Antioxidants can donate an electron to reactive molecules without becoming dangerously unstable themselves, helping interrupt oxidative chain reactions before they cause further cellular damage.
Your skin already has its own antioxidant defence system including enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase alongside antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.
But oxidative exposure can overwhelm those defences.
Which is why antioxidants in skincare aren’t really about “making skin glow.”
They’re about helping skin manage oxidative stress.
And because skin changes slowly, the interesting question isn’t just what you’re putting on it.
It’s what happens to your skin over time.
Track the change. See Stella.
Ben started out on the tools. Today he runs and is a dad.
Zinc SPF50+ is part of his daily routine. He also tracked his skin with 30 scans in Stella.
Across his record, his pigmentation score improved by 3 points.
Not a before and after. Just Ben’s skin, on the record.
Know someone in the trades who would track theirs? Send this their way.
Your skin doesn’t work on product-launch timelines.
Changes in the epidermis happen over weeks, not overnight. And depending on what you’re trying to change, visible results can take even longer.
That’s why the first few days of a new routine rarely tell you very much.
The interesting question isn’t:
“Did this work?”
It’s:
“What changed over time?”
That’s where keeping a record becomes useful.
Stella helps you track your skin over time, alongside the things that might be influencing it — so you can look for patterns instead of relying on a before-and-after feeling.
Skin changes slowly. Keep the receipts.
Dentist for your teeth.
Optometrist for your eyes.
Doctor when you’re sick.
But when your skin keeps changing… who helps you make sense of the pattern?
That’s where Stella comes in.
Your skin has a history. Start tracking it.
Meet Abbie: thinker, gamer and community builder.

Along the way, Abbie started paying attention to something she had barely thought about before: her pores.
One of the products in her routine was Bright Reveal Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum by .

You look at your skin every day. That’s exactly why gradual changes can be so difficult to see.
Was that redness always there? Is the pigmentation changing? Did the new product actually help—or are you remembering your skin differently?
A mirror can show you today. Stella helps you remember the weeks, months and changes that came before it.
Track your skin over time. See what’s actually changing.
